    Programs Programs Programs

    Hi. Dunno if this is the right forum or not but whatever.

    Anyways, I'm lookin for a few programs and would like some suggestions:

    1. A program for resizing images (photoshop seems to be the best way to go for editing images but its expensive and ILLEGAL TO DOWNLOAD ILLEGALLY)

    2. A program for taking the lyrics off MP3's and producing an instrumental of a song. (Can I do this without any equipment?)

    For the Mp3 thing, Goldwave might work. I haven't used it just what someone told me. Not sure if it's free.

      resizing images? eh, mspaint is good for that. as for editing i would still get photoshop illegally. a friend sent me it over aim.

          1. yeah, ms paint workss if you go to image-> stretch/skew -> and and either lower them by the same percent, or higher them by the same percent, the image will stay the same size ratio

            If you're just doing web graphics, try out The GIMP, not sure of the URL. It's an open source photoshoppy program that's free, if a little large. I haven't used it in several iterations (I get free photoshop from my school), but it used to be pretty robust if a little unintuitive.

              It cuts some of the beat out... any other suggestions?

                This depends on how the song was mixed. Apparently if the vocals were placed in the exact centre of the track while all other instruments are slightly off centre. If you subtract the right channel from the left channel the vocals get completely cancelled out leaving only the instruments. This was lifted from the Audacity help file, which is a brilliant program from downloads.com
