lol its nothing special quit making it out to be the pinnacle of movie making. wow he put chapters in it holy shit how did he do that? OMG theres also narration ogmogmogm ive never seen a movie with narration before holy shithththtohoithiot. the only thing original was the anime.
I enjoyed Kill Bill . I don't think it is some incredible feat in storytelling, yet what do i know. I just loved the fighting and blood blood blood blood blood blood blood blood!!!!!!!!!! -V0lt
I love everyone in the Trench Wars community! EXCEPT ONI LINK!!
Yeah I saw it the first day it came out...It was everything I had expected and more. The only thing that disappointed me about the film was the fact Lucy Lu died. She was my favorite character in the movie and the way she died at the end (the fight was too short) Otherwise, i'd say the best film this year thusfar.

I'm sorry, but you just do not get it.
One of the trademarks of Tarantino films is the constant shifting in timeline. He goes back and forth to tell his story. He reveals things in a way that you have to pay attention later to see how the pieces fit. It's stuff like how we see the Pussy Wagon before we know what it represents, or how we see how the Bride pushes the lawyer down the cliff, she looks in the trunk and talks to her, but we don't hear what she says until the lawyer retells it.
And the chapters actually MEAN something. They provide a structure to the time shifting so we know where and when we are, as well as recalling the episodic nature of the various sources of influcence that inspired this film.
And before you scoff at all that as nothing, WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK STORYTELLING IS? You might dismiss all of this as being "nothing" but you know what, it might be "nothing" but Tarantino makes it work.

But when i saw Natural bourn killer on dvd with like how many extra sceens were they.. So freekin cool! when they sawed of the blablabla-brother's legs.. awsome! Disliked the backgroundefects when they drove in the car..
I really don't have the motivation to make a big long post about Kill Bill, but I thought it was really good. I suppose to fully appreciate a lot of the little things in this movie you need to see some of Tarantino's other work.
Also, Gogo, if you read this forum (you don't) - would you like to go out to dinner with me sometime?
EDIT: My feelings towards the movie are more or less the same as Troll King's.
PLEASE, DON'T BE MISGUIDED...YA BITIN'. AND I'MA HAVE TA DIS YA, UNDERSTAND MISTA?

But... there isn't any animation in Battle Royale.
Kill bill kicks ass! I can't wait to see the second one. The whole feel of the movie is great, the violence is great. A lot of times when movies aren't realistic, I have a hard time buying the whole thing (crouching tiger drove me nuts when they were flying), but this movie set up this world from the beginning where things weren't real, and weren't supposed to be real. also, the gushing blood made me laugh every single time.
It's like a great kung fu movie told in a comic book style.
I'm really hoping the second part tells a lot more story though, if it doesn't, the first one will be ruined for me. But I have faith in ol' quentin.
I saw Kill Bill on the weekend. Wow, what an awesome movie. I won't write a full review of it, but needless to say it was a really great movie. I haven't seen very many good movies lately, but that one was surely great.
Although not as witty as Pulp Fiction, I gather Kill Bill will have it's own quotable lines and scenes for the future. As for the action, it was simply incredible. The action did not wholly take itself seriously yet at the same time it was serious. At certain points (in fact many points) it was making fun of itself as it parodied 70s kung-fu movies and anime fights, but yet retained a level of tension which made the fighting scenes all that much better. After seeing the large fight at the end, I now know how good the Matrix Reloaded 100-Agent Smith fight scene could of been much better.
As for the anime? Well the whole fighting was a tribute to it in my opinion. The copious amounts of blood squirting out is quite familiar to fans of anime especially of the movie Ninja Scroll where similar blood squirting events happen as our hero goes on his quest in that movie. How about the actual animated sequences in the movie? At first I was thinking that maybe it was a bit too much of an Americanized version of anime, but on closer inspection it was just highly stylistic. In fact the production house Production I.G. produced the segment (they are most famous for the Ghost in the Shell movie and TV show now airing in Japan) and they are quite an established anime house in Japan.
What other Japanese tributes did Quentin Tarantino (QT) have? Someone on here mentioned above to watch Battle Royale instead. Well the girl who played GoGo (Chiaki Kuriyama) was actually in Battle Royale, and if you've seen the movie and remember her character it's chilling. Apperently QT is a huge Battle Royale fan, so perhaps he saw her performance and picked her up, but then again maybe not
Either way the movie is not a masterpiece. But the movie is not crap either. In fact it is a lot better than crap, and is definately one of the most exciting and refreshing films of this year. So hats off to Quentin Tarantino for a great movie, one that made me feel I got my $13 worth.
