A Hard drive for PS2

I'm sure you have all heard about this. But they are making availble a hard drive for PS2. So my queston would be.... whats the use of it. Will it act like the HD for the xbox where you can store your own music on it and play your own music in games instead of the game music? And also to upload updates for the gmae through the broadband adaptor......... which you need to operorate the HD.
Could some one shine some light on this subject?

It is used for uploading updates for the game through the broadband adaptor. I'm pretty sure it's just like the Xbox hd too. I don't really think its worth it buying.

I think it will be necessary for Final Fantasy XI, where downloadable updates are an absolute certainty.

Well aperently I was under the impression that Makavelithedon was an SS exculsive name but after looking the name up on the web I find that its some music artists name.

It is mostly for FF11 but do know that there will definately be (I believe there already is) homebrew programs for it to load mp3/divx etc from the HD and play them. You can already play divx with a modchip and a program you burn to a cd.

Did I mention you can make you own ....... all you need is a 40 gig HD a BB adaptor and the format software is as of yet is only in Japanesse...

I think they were selling a Linux-PS2 thingy, with a hard-drive, ethernet adapter, Linux distro and a bunch of cables to hook it up to your monitor.

FF11 comes pre-installed on the Ps2 Harddrive/network adapter. But it's not going to be released until May, so what's the point of spending an extra $50 for it when FF11 for PC is released in 2 days =/
