I actually just bought that album today. I definitely wouldn't say it's the album of the year. The production (of course) is great, but Jay-Dee isn't exactly the best MC, and Madlib is merely okay in my book. The lyrics suck, basically.

Maybe about how MTV sux, but that's about as far as his point goes, but then again he probably only knows music by seeing some videoclips on MTV.

But I forgive him for his ignorance, since he's very young and I have hope that he too will learn that there is a lot of good music as soon as you try to look beyond MTV.

Most or all of the names mentioned in this thread you will not see on MTV. The best hip-hop is heard by so many less people than the bad stuff.
