Well if everyone suddenly switched from petrol to vegetable oils...how would farmers be able to supply the demand? If we could duplicate it in the lab and mass produce it..I'm all for it.

Fluffz, diesel is more efficient than gas.

I say we use up whatever fossil fuels we have left, while developing renewable energy sources (such as solar power).

you're not understanding. we can run cars on recycled vegetable oils. which means you can go to mcdonalds and take their fryer oil and dump in in your car and go. we're already making the oil, we'd just be using it twice instead of once. we're also paying farmers to produce less crops, so really it could be a double-sided win.

I wonder, if you go to the drive-thru of McDonalds and order a tank of fryer oil, would the person in the window still find it annoying if you asked for an extra free smile?

but as long as were not in any immediate danger, people wont change their ways.

            its kinda like god.

if people cant see, hear or feel him, they wont believe he's there.

but its solar all the way.

Solar power's inefficient...at least at this point. In many places, the panels barely harness enough electricity to run the motors that move the panels with the sun.

BZ, perhaps you're right...but I don't see it as a method for everyone in the country to use, I just think there isn't enough crops for that.

A note to the solar energy though...It would be highly efficient if there was a satellite, or an array of satellites that were connected to the earth by a wire, and the satellite's main function would be to gather solar rays for electricity. Obviously the main problem is having a safe and reliable tether between the ground and the satellite that won't come crashing down if anything were to happen...
