I just want to address the comment about Weaver hiring newbs for ZH positions. There are always people who claim a new ZH is a newbie. This isn't Weavers fault. Practically every ZH we've ever hired has been greated with jeers of 'Wow, what a newbie!' by the general public. Personally, I also have no idea at all where the deans find these ZHs (or what made them pick me). I've never heard of most new ZHs myself until they show up on staff chat. The point is every ZH starts out like that and you need to wait and give them time to prove their worth. Many of the ZHs that come across as newbies are very hard working. I've learnt to give them time. Even if they start off knowing very little they are often very eager. With the right attention and help from other staffers just about anyone can make a good ZH.

It's also true that no ZH knows everything. Lets face it, some things just don't matter very much. Why would someone know if anti-warp works in a safe zone? I don't know if it works, I don't care about the safe zone. In my opinion if you aren't in the flagroom you're in spec. If someone asked about that on ?help I would have to check before answering. I think it is perfectly fine if a ZH doesn't have all the answers. Another problem is sometimes people want to know stuff like the start date for the next TWL season. Depending on when they ask you there is often no way to tell. Last season even if we were given a date it was pushed back. There is no date and we just don't know. There are many situations like that. People then assume the ZH is just a dolt when in reality the TWL op himself wouldn't be able to tell you. Another example of a sitution where an exact answer would be difficult is when people ask when will the scores in pub be reset. The answer is every second wednesday. I can even tell you if its this wednesday or next but sometimes people want to know the exact time. Early morning wednesday? Late tuesday? What time zone? I honestly can't tell you. Lets get real here people, not knowing something that specific is not a crime. You see how most of this stuff isn't entirely clear?

If a ZH has an incorrect idea or doesn't know something they will learn over time just like the rest of us have. Let's give them some courtesy.

I honestly think I was one of the best ZHs in this zone but there are many things I can't recite off by heart. There was a time when I knew if anti-warp works if you're in a safe zone btw, but I don't know anymore.

I also wanted to say that I supported the vast majority of the firings that occured on staff in the last, oh, how long has it been now... Months anyway. We desprately needed to lose some of the people that were just not at all 'mature' on staff or in the game. We can't have people having little bitch fights on the forum or on staff chat. I don't think we even need to give warnings. After being on staff with someone for a month or two you see their true colours and I think it is well within a deans juristiction to axe someone that just isn't fitting in even if that person has had the most 'on its' every month they were on staff.

I realize that half the time I personally am 'the dumbass' on staff chat but I don't pick fights with anyone. Some immature humor here and there, it's all in good fun. When it comes to doing the job correctly I pass the test 100% and I expect the same from everyone else. Regardless of my sometimes 'immature' persona I even get PMed by some ZHs and ERs when they don't understand something. I think some people consider me 'approachable' because of my occasional 'immaturity' it all depends on how you are immature. Kicking and screaming does staff no good at all. If our deans need to make tough decisions to keep staff working proporly I support that. In fact, I take my hats (I wear more than one hat at a time) off to these people who have to sometimes deal with problems with staffers who have been around for a very long time. It would be hard to warn or axe a moderator that has been around since the birth of the zone. Thats why the axings don't always stick but I think they get the message across.

It will be interesting to see what happens with P_L at the helm. TW politics/staff is always interesting!

Oh! Just as I ran upstairs to shower and get on with my day I thought of the perfect way to articulate my opinion of who to axe and who to hire. To be a good staffer you need to be a good 'team player'. People that make too many posts on forums, send too many emails to the yahoo-group, and are a constant source for negativity on staff chat should be fired. That is why I support most of the firings. We need team players. I get a bad taste in my mouth when I see some staffers arguing with each other. I don't know if they are jockeying for power or what is going through their minds but we don't need confrontational people. Ok thanks I'm done!

I mean why complain on them if they do their job right? If they're not send your complaints to complaints@trenchwars.org and tell them what they did.

That's more usefull than whining about it on forums which only brings you argues etc. Even if you don't get a respond from the complaints mail they have noticed it and they are watching / checking.

and as for the hosted events a month goin up, its bc they newer <ER> are stat hores they host them events taht take 5 minutes to host just to get a monthly stat...the kind of event where 5-10 ppl show up to play....i rarly see anyone hosting the tourny or javtourny or things that ppl actualy like...yes a few do @ times but not like lefty and GK did, some <ER> are hosting for the cummunity some are hosting just for stats, just liek they took help calls as a <ZH> just for stats...they'd wait for a help call from WBduel to come in and wait for 2-3 help calls to come in from diff ppl then they'd say "ON IT" 2-3 times and get credit for that all, but after i was fired i saw on an email from weaver that he wanted that to stop, so if it did he fixed that atleast and there were some good hires not sure quite who he hired or mama hired but spacedust was a good hire

Also about the last recruit, CrimsonX. when I asked him a question on team chat in a pub he didn't respond. When I asked again he left the area to goto another pub. When I asked again on a chat i'm on with him he ignored me....again. I find that kinda weird. Can he not speak English or something? Really I don't want to be rude .

He can Kolar, he may have not known the answer. If you're not getting a response from a specific staff member, just use ?help again.

As for ZHs, I know many ZHs these days take any call they can get (if it's not for mod or a request or something Robohelp can take). I don't know what you saw Cig, but it seems as though they're doing their job. I don't see many people waiting for calls to accumulate and then on iting a billion times, nor do I see some1 ONLY do WbDuel on it calls. Whatever Weaver might have done, it seems to have worked (according to what you saw).

being staff isn't bad at all, I think people that are/were staff enjoyed it, I speak for myself and a few others but I think this is the case throughout.
