Aw come on wadi... all of these episodes aired on public television in Japan and could have easily been recorded with something like TiVo for "recreational" purposes. Don't be getting all forum nazi on me man. :/
It's been licensed in the US, so unless you've contacted the company and recieved the right to distribute, no, it's not allowed. This is less about my opinion on copyrights, and much much more about not wanting to get the boards shut down.
I know they're licensed for sale on DVD in the US. The thing is, I've read the Digital Millenium Copyright Act cover to cover (I had to do one helluva presentation supporting my opinion, which goes against the RIAA/MPAA and is for the distribution of all materials freely.) and if you record something that aired on public airwaves and keep it for your own private, recreational use, you're cool as a cucumber. Granted, you're not supposed to distribute what you record, but I like to think of sharing things with my spaceship friends as being no different from having some buds over to watch the stuff at my place. ;]
