Are very smart people generally more annoying?

I think they are:


very smart --> bored faster --> looking for fun

--> purposely annoy people to see their reactions
AND/OR
--> try unorthodoxy stuff that are disproved by people with normal intelligance (usually without a valid reason)
AND/OR
--> hate unreasonable rules and tend to disobey them

as a consequence, they are hated/disliked.

But they could careless


BTW, there are more reasons, I just run out of patience.

i wouldnt say more annoying necessarily but i know what you are talking about.

a kid down my street is a genious. he knew more about science halfway through highschool than most people will ever know in their lives. he is just naturally gifted.

however, his gpa was a 2.8 (below average for my school). got his driver's license taken away, smokes a lot of pot, and generally lacks common sense. he is now in university of michigan and i think he is having trouble.

I'd say there are a lot of smart people that are really annoying because they're smart, yeah. I've found that a lot of people with very high raw intelligence overthink everything way too much, and therefore, end up with a severly crippled set of social skills. In my book, social intelligence is more about instinct than it is about plotting and planning, and a lot of smart people don't seem to understand that. I went to a high school for a year and a quarter that was a magnet school that basically chose their students based on how well they scored on standardized tests, and the place was total hell. It was like a bunch of sixth-or-seventh-graders inside of 9th-10th graders bodies.

However, your logic as to why smart people are annoying doesn't make any sense. I've met people that purposely annoy people to see their reactions; some of these people are smart, and some of these people are fucking retards. However, every single one of these people does this because they have no other way of getting attention from people, and they are lonely, pathetic fucks, not because "they are bored". You can justify your complete lack of social awareness and tact however you want, though.

Three of my roommates went to his highschool. They are good guys, but seem so warped to me. I don't think they've ever been around a "normal" person.

You see, here is the thing. If you are very intelligent, and you go thru the traditional education system, you tend to do better than others with the same amount of effort.

For example, when you sit in the class room, and the teach/lecturer asks the whole class a question, you will be the 1st one to answer that question. And you do that all the times.

This becomes a reinforcement, day in and day out. So by the time you are in high school/college, you will form this view that if someone disagree with you, then they have a higher chance of getting the thing wrong. So very intelligent people tend to NOT give a damn about what other people have to say, because after all, they think they know all the points of views others might have, and on top of that, they could think from the angles of what others fail to see.

I can assure you, this does NOT assist someone to become a sociable person.

Sure, dumb people purposely annoy others too, but what separates a smart attention hoe from a stupid one is that the smart one knows that if annoy people is all that you do, eventually people would get bored by you and ignore you. So you will not get any attention at all after that.

So what a smart attention hoe does is that he/she annoys people initially, then gradually brings in a sense of humour. He/she throws a few lines of really wise remarks and some sensible views in every now and then. If it is necessary, he/she shows his/her sensitive side. And when people think that him/her is a interesting person and are willing to conversate with him/her again, strikes again and punch them in the nose.

Repeat the process.
