That's super, but again, you're defeating probability if you list 10/10 no-names as your favorite anything. Let me provide an example. I'm going to list 10 movies. Let's call them my favorite.

          1) Fever Pitch
          2) Strictly Ballroom
          3) Particles of Truth
          4) Absolute Beginners
          5) Dead Cert
          6) Murder is Easy
          7) And the Sea Will Tell
          8) Heart Full of Rain
          9) Brokedown Palace
          10) Close to Danger

You're probably saying "Wth?" And you should be. Combined, these movies probably didnt gross one tenth as much box office revenue as one Lord of the Rings movie. This means, too, that combined, these movies were probably not viewed by one tenth as many people as one Lord of the Rings movie. And through probability, it is also reasonable to presume that, combined, these movies would not be considered for one tenth as many people's Top 10 Favorite Movies lists.

If you can understand this, you should realize that it is extremely improbable that I would list 10 / 10 movies like this, simply because so many fewer people actually saw these movies, compared to the likes of a Lord of the Rings. There are few logical explanations as to why one would list 10 movies like this as their favorite. Maybe they stay at home all day exclusively watching satellite tv movie channels. Or maybe they think popular Hollywood movies that gross over $20 mil are shallow and unrelatable, not capable of any cinematic value.
You see, I like music that I can connect with and I enjoy hearing something different from what is on the radio (of which I grew up listening to). Case in point, I will decide what I think is good at my discretion and not that of a thousand other people.
Your attitude here proves my point, to a tee. From your list and your words, you're basically concluding that no popular music can be good because so many people like it, making it "unrelatable". The quality of the music, itself, doesn't matter. It's popular, so it can't be good. Congrats. You are, in fact, an angsty teen.

Well, that's another logical explanation to add. Although, it is rather close to my "stay at home all day exclusively watching satellite tv movie channels" theory. :P In which case, they would not be angsty teens. These are less likely explanations, however, as you well know, but are pretending not to. At any rate, I think you'd agree you're doing a much better job of dodging than I ever did.

You are making broad generalizations here. What if I was 32? Would I then be an "angsty teen"? Are you saying that angst only exists within the teenage community? Does that mean that anyone past their teenage years cannot have any angst?

I was merely offering a counter-viewpoint. You were making generalizations and trying to rationalize your way out of them.
You see, I am aruging the fact that popular music is popular because a few executives decided they liked it and decided to put it on the radio. It has nothing to do with the quality of music, in fact, it is mostly the same pre-digested crap that has been on the radio for years. The music can actually have some merit but the only thing that separates it is financial backing.

If you get one thing out of this thread, understand that I am NOT saying that popular music sucks. I AM saying there is much better music out there and I'd rather listen to new, creative music rather than what is "popular" for the time being.

You immediately assumed that I was some anarcho-punk screaming about the government. You assumed that I was an angsty teen. Your high school psychology class gives you no right to analyze me or anyone for that matter. Congrats. You are, in fact, the kid no one likes.
