I think Creative are on the ball, but they need to significantly reduce the size of their hard-drive players.

Creative are great with audio devices, I really want that one at the top, but I'm worried about the battery, I'll consider an iPod then, just to make bloodzombie happy, I'll take a deeper look into it.

i got the 60gb creative player and its just awsome. i wouldnt waste money on those flash players. for just 100€ extra you get something decent. it is not "big" either. no more cd´s, minidisks or other bullsh*t. it was so worth it. it is just a little hard to find 60GB id3 tagged music
on the other hand cd mp3 players are not so bad either. they are the sice of a cd but they are also much cheaper.
a word on the apple: its smaller than mine but much more expensive (40GB apple for 500€ vs 60GB creative for 300€), their battery lasts half as long as the creative one, and dies after a few months which was the main reason for me not to buy it. on the other hand you can engrave something on the apple what ties the battle again. so... decide for urself, the only mistake you can make is to buy none of them
iRiver is also cool, they have an onboard radio, archos has a very bad support but their video players are cool and therefore expensive, dell and toshiba are not avaliable in europe yet so screw them.

The iPod battery doesn't die after a few months, that was a problem with the first generation of iPod, which can be fixed by upgrading its software. No new models are like this.
I don't how you lug the Creative (Zen is it?) around, they're huge. I suppose it really depends on how much you have to spend, the size of your music library, and how big a device you're willing to carry around. I think the iPod is a bit too big too.

When I bought mine it had to:
1) Have over 1 Gt of memory
2) Internal batteries that can be recarged and replaced once they get old
3) Look/feel like it might handle ruff handling
Bought the iPod and I'm happy with it. Suggest you get new phones though because the ones that come with it let in too much noise for my liking.
Might feel expensive but it is totally worth it. Small enough and longlasting. Resale value is also very high. Very good menu system to find the song you are looking for.
Other option might be a minidisc, cheap diskettes but it breaks quite easily and the batteries don't last that long.5: Da1andonly> !ban epinephrine
