I think a cult is technically a religion just starting off that has only one leader. Once the leader dies or passes it on, it's no longer a cult.

and Heaven, i grew up thinking my religion was non-denominational, but it's a denomination because it's different from the others; not necessarily that it emphasizes some biblical teachings and not others. i guess i'm evangelical more than anything.

See, first of all, you need to ask yourself this: what can an all-powerful omnipotent being possibly want from us that he can't obtain by himself?

God wants relationships with us. "He is a God who is passionate about His relationship with you." Exodus 34:14? (34:15?)

There is no mysticism here, and Religion cannot be defined as a cult because there is no sacrifice and no offerings to be made.

Religion is different for everyone. For me, it isn't necessary to hate all the sinners -- its hypocritical. Instead, one should love the sinner and hate the sin. Like Heavensent said, there are non righteous. (Heavensent isn't righteous, but instead, he is on the 'path' to righteousness.)
