whenever i see a thread like this come up i wish i had a list somewhere of my favorite movies. cuz i have a ton of movies i think are great, but when i write them down on a list like this, i forget 1/2 of them :P

      anyway, off the dome:

      godfather 1&2
      heat (pacino and deniro...nuff said)
      goodfellas (gangster classix)
      silence of the lambs
reservoir dogs (funny as hell, tarantino's breakout film)
fight club (genious script and great cinematography)
      seven (gripping suspence, and smart)
spy game (a great cerebral film)
      the LOtR series (enough said)
      rounders (greatest poker movie ever)
boiler room (suprisingly fun to watch)
magnolia (very very brilliant character study with superb acting)
      caddyshack
      swingers
      american beauty
      dumb and dumber
      happy gilmore
      blazing saddles
      the jerk

i have plenty more, but for the sake of time and space, i'll leave it at this long list.

Trees Lounge (1996), Buscemi both directed and starred in it, some famous faces flashing by. I thought it was pretty ok when I saw it few years ago, but I might be wrong.

And Cops, what else movies do/did you watch and found good ? Those names I gave you are mainly foreign movies, mostly good, some just beautiful, but you might not like any of them.

Fear and loathing in Las Vegas
          Dazed and confused
          Life is beautiful

          Enjoyable action:

Ravenous (more of horror with a good dose of "serious" comedy, if you dig cannibalism )
Hero (gorgeous film, nice little story, great fights)
Equilibrium (Fahrenheit 451 kind of story, not too deep, good action with some nice fights)
Brotherhood of wolf (action flick, kung-fu style in 1800 france, quite entertaining)
Battle Royale (40 kids killing eachother on an island..har har :] )
The way of the gun (from the guy that wrote Usual Suspects, it has some nice moments, and is watchable)

Who has seen Rushmore (from the guy that did Royal Tenenbaums) and thinks its good ? Saw it the other day, it bored the shit out of me, everyone else seems to love it

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If you want a movie that will leave you utterly dazed and confused no matter how many times you watch it, check out Mulholland Drive. I only watch it for the lesbian action nowadays.

brotherhood of the wolf sucked major balls. partly due to the fact that the girl i was watching it with mentioned the horrible dubbing, which I hadn't quite recognized yet. Neverless, I did get head while watching this movie, so I'd give it two thumbs up.

                yea, what crveben said...lol

i have a copy of trees lounge, which i bought without having seen it. i kind of went with the general faith in buscemi's work, since i have been a long time fan of his. i wasn't really focused when i saw the movie initially and i thought it sucked balls---no...not in the good way.

then the other day, i was in a dark mood and i gave it another go. i thought it was pretty good this time. expect it to be slow and depressing, but if that type of movie suits your mood, you will probably enjoy it. it reminds me of the movie Adaptation by Spike Jonze, but without the third act conflict.

it becomes an interesting character study of an alcoholic loser stumbling his way through life. the more you get to know the character, the more likable he becomes. this movie was buscemi's full length directorial and writing debut.

PS: have to agree with you on Sexy Beast. i loved that movie.

ah, naomi watts (petite blonde princess)and laura harring (hot mexican goddess) going at it. and people made such a big deal about brittany and madona? ack!

yea, aside from that girl-on-girl dream come true, mullholland drive was a typical david lynch movie. by that i mean, i went from thinking "wtf?" to "wow, this is great!", then back to "wtf?" then ending up with "wow, this is great!".

if you like his body of work, this one is right up there with Twin Peaks: Firewalk With Me, Blue Velvet, and Lost Highway.

has anyone seen Eraserhead? it's a very old film directed by lynch, and i have never seen it. it was made back in 77, it's in black and white. just wondering if it was worth seeing. i'd appreciate any replies.

It's an Uruguayan movie in black and white, about 3 guys who you follow in an average day in their lives. They don't do much else than drink, and in the mean time they have some small problems like girls, studies and jobs. And they'll run into some strange people during the day. It's a funny movie, best comparable to the Big Lebowski.
