Peanuts don't critique something you don't have any idea what it is... -_-
It's normally music you don't even dance to, you also need a keen ear to enjoy it in all it's eccentricity.

It's one of the subgenres of electronica, and it can become one fukked up sound!! It's up there with experimental and hardcore dnb; it can sound chaotic by using lots of sounds and layers, or just the opposite and have a nice ambient trance flow with a very pleasant electro melody... it covers a bunch of others genre in itself.

This site has some real great idm and types of fun music, Suff might like this place:

Boards of Canada is awesome, those guys truly are artists when it comes to painting sounds. Whether it be abstract, ambient, breakbeat, or whatever.. they still find perfection, it's just great.

Music like this is so carefree and easygoing, they're not here to impress or turn heads like must types of music.. you look at others and see that they're just trying too hard, turning their music into a chore instead of a hobby

Anyways, their website is just as nice,
even if you don't like electronic downtempo stuff, it's still worth checking out.

I'll give it up, that's a bad ass website.
Music and medicine, I'm living in a place where they overlap.

This almost anti-genre genre of music is something that has been growing on me for a number of years, only recently to blossom. Calling it an anti-genre provides a good frame of mind to be in before approaching it. Don't expect what you have always expected, don't expect anything. On the flip-side, calling it anti-genre does not do justice to the quality of what you might find. I have found that it takes patience and open-mindedness to break into this world. The results, are vastly rewarding.
Most of that article's fine, but this is such a horribly written intro I had to comment. Friends don't let Friends use the phrase "anti-genre". Thank you.

As far as IDM goes, it's all clicks and whistles to me. Maybe it was my own horrible experience trying to play an instrument early in life, but I just have an infinite amount of respect for those who can do it without the help of a computer.
