heh, LOTR came owned and left with 11 of them. They did better then the titanic and that other movie that got 11 oscars, becuase those both had more nominations.

I would have liked to see Bill Murray win the best actor in leading role Oscar tho. For the rest I think all the winners deserved the oscar's.

poor billy crystal. he's either a has been, or because of the janet jackson imposed PG-Rated climate, all his material came off so mild it was like eating a loaf of dry toast.

i've never seen him less comedic.



and i know this is a bit off topic...but i'm suprised that janet jackson isn't still being vilified. because of that stunt she and timberlake pulled, the whole entertainment industry has been frozen over by a conservative ice storm. howard stern got pulled off the air, almost all live broadcasts are now on a 5-7 second delay, edgy entertainers are having their material overhauled by their producers and corporate owners...etc.

if my professional life was turned upside down all because some washed-up singer was trying to boost her album sales, i'd want to kill da bitch.

If you rate movies according to how many oscars they have won then the IMO the second criteria in the case of a tie should be how many nominations they have, not how few.

Oscars are a hoax, too commercialized. Biggest ticket incomes = most oscars. cannes4win =)

i turned the tv off right after LOTR won for best editting.
best editting for a movie that features crowd-straining multiple endings, a full hour of expendable fluff, and very mediocre camera sequences.

award-rigging doesn't get any more blatantly obvious than that.

Notice how LOTR (aside from best picture) won no major awards. Best editing (total bull shit)? Best original score (when that one with the bike was obviously much better)? Best cinematography (computer generated everything)? The movie didn't win a single award pertaining to acting, fuck the lord of the rings, it sucked, the acting sucked, the only reason it did well is because of people who had read the books.
