I'm not a great fan of rap music or generally music of black origin, however I like Hey Ya because the beat makes its sound like punk without the guitars to me. Theres something else which I once thought of which justified it being punk in disguise but I've forgotten it for now.

Well I wouldn't classify this song as rap even, and probably not even real hiphop. The only reason I can endure this song though is because it's wannabe techstep with the easy beat and uplifting xylophone melody... I honestly think to people who like this song might enjoy techstep, DnB, 2step, jungle, or anything else in a similar subgenre.

As for the video, funny animation but could of used a more original song... There's like 20 million flash vids using that already :/

Hey ya! I liked that song! Dunno what you're all bitching about. The music I don't like is all that negative whinning about getting dumped by your girlfriend music. Or the other common theme of rebeling against your mother or teacher. Oh ya, thats really intelligent. Or the typical "nobody understands me because I'm a teen" music. I hate that too.
