Adeon, contrary to popular belief, dial-up users are still a majority in the online world.

      Online, yes. Online gaming, no.

Online gaming, hell yes. Don't think simply because you happen to be an online gamer with a broadband connection that you're in the majority. Sure, logic would dictate gaming enthusiasts would want want to be playing with a high speed connection, but the reality is broadband rollout isn't exactly stellar. This doesn't keep people from playing, however. Aside from FPS's, which even those can be handled by a stable 56k connection, your average online game doesn't really need broadband. Think of all the RTS's out there. Think of how many people are aboard The Sim's train. Hell, think of SubSpace. Don't forget the fact that the game was coded back when 28.8 modems were the status quo. While Continuum may be a new client, it's protocol mimicks the SS protocol well enough such that a 56k should be more than enough to play the game with.

Also havta remember Cable is only recently (past few years) becoming available to almost everyone. Like i said b4, up till last year i couldnt get cable connection in my area. Im sure there are still areas w/o it, or where it costs an arm and a leg. I konw here it costs 40$ + 5$ modem rental, where as i can get dialup for like 15$

I once got specced for 100% slow packetloss. Quite frankly, I think the bot has some really kewl bug in it.

I usually get specced because of PLoss when I try to play TWD for example. The way to get rid of the disease is simple: Just restart Continuum and play Pub for a little moment and then just go back to the TWD arena and play. No PLoss after that.
I guess it's not "real" PLoss that I'm having but it sure specs me on my first attemp to play. Weird. :P

Ok so i guess the Continuum client is ignorantwhat? It says my high is 220ms.

                  also,

You have been put in spectator mode due to high latency (C2S)

LOOK AT THAT C2S! Very high indeed. Also i've noticed that my ping usually wsa 40-60 now it's 70-60, something happen while i was away for 2 weeks or what?
Try using ?ping instead of ?lag

Still stupid they should allow for lag spikes to go higher then 300. Its the person who has the constant 300 ping that causes the main problem. I also dotn think 300 is that high, but thats another story.

Allowing for higher ping spikes would make it a lot easier to cheat by inducing lag intentionally, or by using one of the several other methods of screwing with your connection.

They pinged my system and say they found NOTHING. Now that is the biggest bullshit I've ever heard. With the new bots implemented in TWL, TWD, and even in base, javduel, and wbduel, I don't know how the hell I'm actually going to play any of these games when the new bots are there. By setting a 3.0% packetloss limit, the number of players significantly drop because during peak hours and around peak hours, this will really aggravate players.
Wow i have the EXACT same problem. I have a cable connection, and unless im playing at about noonhour, my s2c and c2s is always above 1%. Countless times ive not been able to play in a twd game because of this. and a couple times we even had to forfeit because i forgot about my lag, and then we didnt have enough . And i also agree about this slow packetloss. I'll be so happy that occasional time my s2c is below .5%, then i go into wbduel and im specced for slow packetloss!! my ping usually stays around 100 ms, and unless my ploss is abnormally large, i dont spike. Ive also come to the conclusion that ploss doesnt have near as much effect as ping. So even though i have a good ping im still specced...

And lastly, about restarting continuum to get rid of ploss. Occasionally this works for me, but most of the time ill try restarting so i can play a twd game without fear of lagging out. Then when i come back in my ploss will be double of triple what it was before. The last conclusion that i came to is that when i enter the game with huge ploss, it very slowly goes down over time.

ps- i dont run any other programs while playing ss when im trying to get rid of lag.

Screwing with ur connection usualy doesnt rise ur ping atleast that much. When i do the cable modem trick (which i cant explain on here) it only rises my packetloss, and not high enuff to lagout.

Slow packetloss hasnt effect me once yet, however I look out for others also... I have to agree with most others on this site, slow packetloss is effecting people it really shouldnt be effecting (for the most part), I vote to get rid of slow packetloss restrictions. I havent witnessed anything greatly beneficial to the community, there are still laggers out there (myself being one of them) lag is part of the game put some limits up so that it doesnt give anyone a wicked advantage over others and yet it still allows many people to play. let jason play

I think we need 20% packet loss max so COPY can play.
