I agree with WiseCherub. It would be a difficult task, but the outcome would get boring after a while. Would it be possible to have the bots learn from their duels? That way, it'd be a great training excersise..

Anyways, what someone was saying before about a bot following around a player, was just *warpto'ing itself where the player was non-stop. It comes with the standard MERVBot

I really don't have much comment on this, but it's a great challenge. I'd be glad to work with you on this WiseCherub.

Do you bot programmers think we should develop something a bit more small fry? In essence, make ships stationary around (they don't even have to be moving), but have them aim towards the central player controlled ship. This could make a cool dodging arena.

Ok so lets say this happens...and lets say, you get oh....15 bots up and running with AI programming implemented into them. Do you know exactly how much bandwidth is taken up by 1 bot? Well I dont exactly know, but I believe that 15 extra bots like this is unneccessary and will cost more money because of bandwidth. Other than that, I think it would be a pretty neat idea... but many flaws and very difficult to do.

Have any of you guys played AGF because that game is excatly like a one player SS game! And on the hardest level the computers are quite hard it has similar ship settings to chaos zone.

                    About the bandwidth problem:
We could set up a seperate server. Paid for, or held up by all the other zones that are in with the 'plan'. Have arena's with special settings, those of the other zones(such as ?go TrenchWars / ?go SVS / ?go EG).We could have all of continuum contributing to this idea, and have insane training sessions. But, only by submission do we get the settings from the different zones. So, it probably won't be all of the zones, but I'm guessing some zones will put in their settings to trustful people, known people (*cough* this is where 2dragons and TWDev team comes in *cough*) so they don't think we're just stealing them..

This is a brilliant plan in the making! And we're just getting warmed up Wait until the REAL ideas come to hand!

It would be easy to program a bot to set stationary and fire bombs and/or bullets at players. In fact, several bot cores are already capable of doing that as a built in feature.

I made a shitty bot that fires at you and actually chases you, its movement is pretty jerky though, not smooth. It can't die tho which is the hard bit to program

Awhile ago somebody made a bot on some private arena... Put it in game, and it had flawless aim (near flawless, anyway). That had nothing to do with what I'm about to say.

I personally think this is a waste of time. You've got at least 280 players on 24/7, what are bots for? They don't really add anything to the game, they are just a big waste of time. Couldn't the time spent *trying* to program AI be put to much better use? As it is, this is little more than a novelty. Sure, it might be nice to watch major league baseball with the players in tutus, but it ain't gonna happen.
