AFK people in ?go base

I dont understand why people are afk for more than 10-20mins i mean there is an exit button and if your just there for usage thats even more of a dumber reason, it is really frustrating picking ppl who afk and dont even bother using the !notplaying command. I reckon these ppl should be banned for 20mins just to teach them a lesson of consideration for other playing people.

It is also annoying when you are trying to get into pub 0 (for pure base settings) but its maxed out (36 players) and you just know like 5-10 of em arent playing! But generally there is a spot if you wait 5mins though but still.......

I dont think Ive ever gone afk in base, but I can remember MANY times going afk in other arenas, because I have to go do something, and I live in a house with many people of no patience whatsoever, they dont even give me enough time to type ?away...seriously.

Someone else said earlier 'why not make it so you have to type !afk to the bot before it moves you to the other freq' well my thinking behind it is, if you are sitting there for that long and you dont get picked and it moves you to the other freq (9898 or whatever it was) you can still move yourself right back to the normal spec chat or just re-type ?go base if anything this lets the captains know that you ARE there and waiting to be picked.

Im not saying ppl dont go afk im saying i dont understand why people go afk for a substantial time. Like 30mins-1 hour and many go even longer like days at a time!

I still say that instead of typing !notplaying, that before each new match that's started you should have to type !playing to make you eligable for that round.
It's not fool-proof, but it's an improvement.

I think another idea is:

- !notplaying stays on until turned off. In other words, it lasts for more than one round.
- Sysops can see idle time, thus so can the bots. The bot should check idle time on an !add or !sub, and message the captain if the person is more than x (10?) minutes idle.

I kinda like the !playing idea. it might be annoying at first, but once people got used to it, it could work.

the downside of solving the afk problem like this would be that it's still hard for captains to figure out who's there and who's not. It might encourage people to go afk since they'll feel like it's ok. then we start picking and there's 20 people in the arena and 9 of them aren't playing.

ALso it would make it easier to stack the teams. you can sit there and wait for your buddy's turn to pick, then type !playing. You can do this pretty easy anyway, but I think it would be more common if you put in this system.

Every game you can type !playing and it puts you on 1337 freq or whatever, after the game you go back to the spec freq. You could also still pick people who are on the spec freq. Sounds good to me.

Awesome, Sphonk already implemented what I suggested. He said it would be a lot harder to make !notplaying last for more than one game because of the poor design of how !notplaying works.

Status: Implemented.

Feature request: Make !notplaying last until turned off
Status: Due to the current design, I can't make it last multiple rounds without a good chunk of rewriting. I was able to work around this by assuming that anyone on the !notplaying freq at the start of a game is still !notplaying. If you leave and come back and are !notplaying, you'll get put back on the notplaying freq.

Feature request: Make the bot check idle time and warn the captain
Status: Maybe later heh.
