  • SS just psychological?

Im beginning to wonder whether alot of ss is due to psychological effects. By this i mean, when im playing elim on my normal name Demonic, players fight differently towards me then they do when im playing aliased. When im on Demonic, ppl back off a bit (depending who the player is of course) and try and play defensive, compared to when im aliased, where there is alot more confidence in the way they play against me, alot more rushing etc. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed this when they play aliased/regular names? Perhaps the difference between the good players and the really good players is infact a confidence level!

i think if u play agresive aliased, people are a bit more scared, as they imagine the worst.

I tihnk the entire game is depends on ur mind and mood.

yes dem.. although its the opposite with me people think im better when im on an alias cus my private altnicks are pretty good and i guess they assume it's someone better than it really is

i guess this also falls under the same category but i find when i try to go for a higher score, i usually dont do as well as if i just play without concerning myself with rec.

When I play aliased I dominate elim, because I have about 5 or 6 less people hunting me. On Mattey, people will stop fighting eachother and both come after me if they see me fly by. This doesn't happen on my aliases, so I get a lot more cheapy's.

As for the game being psychological I totally agree. I pretty much have an idea of how each one of my opponent's attacks/defends an attack.

Remember that ELIM2 (2 weeks ago), Demonic?

Well, before and during that ELIM2, I have never heard of you before and just took it as it came.

Now if I knew who you were and how much experience you have, I might have been less aggressive and more cautious.

I agree 100%, names seem to throw people off.

The other thing is when you see big names, you get intimidated and freeze or get shocked.. then you lack confidence.

I no long think this way, I try my best and treat it as it comes in real-time when I duel. This makes me more calm, relaxed and confident.. in the end yielding better results.

At the end of that ELIM2, I made the mistake of just concentrating on you.. in my mind making it a 1v1 duel. Along comes Intriquality, just watching us battle it out and he just sits back.. and vulches me.. our 10 minute 1v1 straight duel came to an end.

Just turn off names during elim and you won't get as nervous, you'll just think of them as another player.

P.S. I proudly chase Mattey whenever I see him.

If someone is playing in base with mvp and 45 bty people run like crazy insted of shooting or fighting them - mental state of trying to stay alive that works against them. This game is quite mental.

I quite believe in this myself. If I see a player which I would think is a good player, I would try to be conservative in game and back off a little more just to be careful of them using their tricks. But of course, I end dying because I back off when I could have got them if I played like I normally did =/

Its not so much good players for me, Im scared of laggots. If i see some laggot flying by skipping around the screen and shooting bullets that appear 2 seconds after hes shot them i just think "fuck that" and fly somewhere else.

I believe that continuum definately has a psychological aspect to the game...much like you guys have said, some people are intimidated by other people. Personally, if im in elim and I see someone good, I like to try and go and kill them...simply because its more intelligent to try and kill the more difficult people, and get better...you dont get better by fighting the easy people.
