  • FAKE forum upgrade message- do NOT open.

If you recieved a private message like this, do NOT open it as it is a trojan virus/keylogger.

It's completely fake. I don't know what this faggot was tryingn to prove. There is no reason why the end user would have to download or change anything in order for them to use a messageboard.

    http://forums.trenchwars.org/member.php?u=3071

Fake. Do not trust anything they tell you.

    Important Forum Update
Your favourite forum is going through changes, in the next few days you will notice several graphical changes, but most important is the protocol used!

You will need to download and install the forum patch from Trenchwars.org to continue to use the forum.

If the link does not work copy and paste LINK REMOVED into your address bar.

The .exe in the .zip appeared to run something called net1.exe and deleted its self in the dir it was in. I wouldn't touch this file it looks like a virus.

btw: I knew it wasn't real I downloaded it purely to assess the risk.

Interesting indeed. The user has been banned from use of this Forum and we will continue our investigation into this matter.

People I should not have to remind you of this but do not download anything that does not come directly from a trusted source. If we were updating the forums for any reason you would have heard about it through official channels. Private Forum messages are not used to make official announcements.

Ünited Stätes Toughens Image With Umlauts WASHINGTON, DC—In a move designed to make the United States seem more "bad-assed and scary in a quasi-heavy-metal manner," Congress passed a bill Monday changing the nation's name to the Ünited Stätes of Ämerica. "Much like Mötley Crüe and Motörhead, the Ünited Stätes is not to be messed with," said Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK). An upcoming redesign of the Ämerican flag will feature the new name in burnished silver wrought in a jagged, gothic font and bolted to a black background. A new national anthem is also in the works, to be written by composer Glenn Danzig and tentatively titled "Howl Of The She-Demon."

hehe I got one too.. I was smart enough to look at the link of the address... when I saw it didn't go to trenchwars.org but to a tk site.. I started laughing. I couldn't figure out what kind of peabrained numbskull sent me that, not realizing the peabrained numbskull sent it to a bunch of others as well. If it is zx? Here's hoping he gets netbanned forever. =) =)

Bah, bastard. We will get on his tail. In the mean time a day or so stickied for info.

Remember, all "important" things are posted in the announcement forum. There will be no announcement like that sent in PM shape.

I'd been wondering whether zx was up to something. If you've clicked any of zx's links on this forum (even if nothing appeared to happen) it wouldn't do any harm to run an anti-trojan scan (a good one). If it's not you zx, apologies.

EDIT: you can get a very good anti-trojan program, called TDS-3, from www.diamondcs.com.au. It has a free trial 30-day period. Get the latest updates and turn on all the options before you scan.

If you check the links i gave 1 was for a wmv file (a video clip) and the other 3 were to jpgs (pictures) I wouldn't link anything to a .zip .exe .bat .com .pif .scr or anything that could be harmful as i wouldn't expect anyone to be stupid enough to run a file someone they don't know sends them.

So what would a clever hacker do...? .....provide links to something less suspicious perhaps? I don't know if this has anything to do with you. But you do claim, or at least suggest, that your a hacker. In which case, you would also know that there are many more ways to hack people's machines than using the files you mention. A simple web page is enough.

EDIT: Apologies zx, if it's nothing to do with you. I have no idea. It would be a good idea for people using these forums to check their machines for anything nasty.
