I'm pretty sure I can too, but I wasn't meaning to boast (honestly!), just using the most convenient example. There are plenty of people with less than 750 hours (for instance) who are better than most people over 750. I'm not sure if Stripes, for example, has 750 hours, seeing as he hasn't been playing for that long (if he does, nvm). But he did qualify for Cylor's tournament, through some tough competition.

Yeah, but here's what confuses me- why? What's the point of "weed[ing] out... common pubbers or other annoying 'newbies'"? There's nothing they do (since they're not very good) that you can't ?nopubchat away, and they give away free kills. In a 750+ elim, you would see elim ratings be flattened much more, which I'm not at all sure is that good.

If the machine isn't broken, don't fix it, IMHO.

No matter how many hours you put on it, everything is going to remain the same. If elim is too crowded, don't play and wait for the newer players to type ?go zombies once wark gets off his ass and does something fun.

I think that elim2 should be made available all the time, or at least hosted more often.

hehe kick, I just realised ur from syracuse. I go through syracuse every other weekend in the summer to go to ontario :-p. But to stay on topic..

I think that there should be another elim to host everything besides wb and jav elims, that would cut down on the elim pop a little bit.

while we are suggesting improvements for elim i have a few.
one: the out message should be _ is out _ wins _ losses. there are _ players left. that would take out scoreboard-checking deaths. also the out message should be displayed for all players who are out.. whether they lag out or spec or whatever.. prevents scoreboard-checking again plus makes it easy to spot ppl 'specing for rec'..... oh and fix the elim database sometime.... that thing is key... anyway im gone for a few months. if elim is fixed up when i get back i will be stoooooooooked!!! peace

oh and i agree there should be a perminent 200+ hr elim but if it comes into place the other elim should not have a usage requirement... with a 36hr requirement it will be empty

In my opinion elim isn't meant to be played the same way people play twdd or twld. It requires a different style, whether you like it or not. Spawns aren't even a big problem, neither is elim being too crowded. Elim is pretty fine the way it is.

Alot of people I see have there finger on INSERT (Warp) right when they get put into spawn incase someone shoots at them. :P

but then they warp to another place where they get spawned again

I think the 36 hours usage limit is to stop people making an alias, playing elim until they get a high rank, making a new one, playing elim until they get a new rank etc...

It isn't much, but it's enough that they have to wait sometime after making the name to play elim.

I really don't see any point if the proposed elim would have a usage requirement of only 200 hours. Honestly... Then only the people with 36-200 hours would be playing regular elim, and that would be stupid. The new one should be something more like 1000 if it is going to be worthwhile... Or don't do it at all?

?go elim2 is an arena where only a certain amount of usage is required. Lowering the number of people does reduce spawns. If there are 60 people playing, more people are in spawn and on the surroundings. If 30 people are playing, there will be less people in spawn, therfore more room for you to move around without you getting killed. We'll never get this fixed, we will just have to live with it. After you die, just run to the outskirts, where you can't be spawned.

When I play elim I fly around in spawn trying to vulch and spawnkill as much as I can. I wouldn't change that if I ever played elim2 either so usage doesn't mean you stop doing it.

I dunno when I played my last elim though, might be a year ago or so. So don't be afraid that I'd backstab you there or anything.
