Ok so, the other day I was listening to Dream Theater's Scene Six: Home and at 8:23 at I hear familiar moaning and I'm like wtf, I don't have Continuum or any cat videos on. What is this???
I start to google and find this Reddit post with the audio isolated. At 0:53 it is very clear it's identical to %12 in the game. At this point it's so clear I wouldn't even need to confirm it but I do and it's a 100% match.
Turns out (or at least rumored) it's not even a woman but John Myung, the bassist of the band:
so at the end of a really long session with us having gone through like 50 CDs of samples we said "fuck it, we have mouths, we can do the fucking moans ourselves! we're ending this right now!"
...alas, it turned into a contest and although I was dead set on my moans making the cut, turns out that JM can moan like no other! who would have thought? i was scared to close my eyes, lest temptation take control, but we ended up finishing the song, so I didn't complain!
The song is from 1999 so I don't think %12 existed in the original SubSpace but it must have been added by PriitK?

trying to properly convey the story elements in Scenes from a Memory was a #1 priority for me and the guys. We didn't just want to create cool grooves - there was a concept behind it and a message that we wanted to drive home So we used samples in addition to lyrical and musical elements to really get the point across yknow?
We had a myriad of sample packs but for some songs like Home we were missing vital sounds. if you hadn't noticed: there's a section where Victoria moans her heart out. Initially, JP was going to replicate the sound of moaning with his guitar (a technique he had used on When The Water Breaks from LTE2 for baby cries) but it didn't really resonate with us.
