Spamming in Trench Wars

ok, finished up my bot thingy...now I just need to get some support for it.

I'll start off by describing the bots involved.

1. spamhub, the spamhub is the bot which spawns the spambot. A moderator can grant someone permission to spawn a spambot and the spamhub will ask for the players password, when the player does !password <mypassword> the bot will login the spambot (after *kill'ing you)

2. spambot, basic bot that is logged in as you and a moderator brings it to a private arena, the bot displays all pm's recieved (remote, reg, and squad) along with the person's name and # of pm's (s)he has sent you.

so, a normal thing would be like

Mod> :SpamHub:!grant Jacen Solo
SpamHub> Mod has given you permission to log a spambot in <blah blah blah>

SpamBot> *kill
(spambot of Jacen Solo logs in)
(Jacen2 logs in)
Mod> :Jacen Solo:!go #blahblahblah
(jacen solo moves to #blahblahblah)
(mod goes w/ jacen solo)
(Jacen2 sits and waits)
SomeNoob> :jacen solo:f'ing <racial slurs>
Jacen Solo> 1 SomeNoob> f'ing <racial slurs>
SomeNoob> :jacen solo:go to he11
Jacen Solo> 2 SomeNoob> go to he11
(spamming continues)
Mod> :SomeNoob:bye bye
(noob gets banned)
Mod> :Jacen Solo:!die
(jacen's bot form dies)
Mod> :Jacen2:Ok, I've finished up, you can get back on Jacen Solo, thanks for helping get rid of the evil spammers


or...something like that...and where's my ability for polls!?! i used to be able to put a poll on threads :/ anyway, leave comments/suggestions or if you don't like it state your reason for not liking it (most likely because you're a spammer :P)

How about the bot will tell you to disconnect and it will log on to your name + a few random chars

So, you will DC from jacen solo and log on as batman or something, and the bot will log on as Jacen Solo6575hhs.

This means the spammer's :jacen solo: will still go to the bot and this saves you having to give the bot your password.

You can turn off public macros in the Options screen from the main menu. That helped me out a lot too, cause at one point it was "the cool thing to do," and way too many people to ignore. If that doesn't help, then deal with it like I do, cause I don't find spam a problem. Give or take a few moments where people on gv chat are obnoxious.

good idea, although the person would have to make the name for the bot to login as. bots go thru the same login process (kinda) as regular people do, it will notice that there is noone w/ the name Jacen Solo2378 and will ask it to create a new user. so that'd be a bit difficult

This requires you to be killed. which I don't like. What if the spamming occurs when you're in the middle of a twd/l match?
This requires you to give out your password, and even to a bot that's out of the question.
This is way more convoluted than ignore, and still requires a mod to look at the log afterwards, and STILL can't do anything about zone switching.

The idea is neat.. but it's very tricky... and I think wadi said it already, what if this happens during a twd match?.... squadspamming is for sure the most annoying.. for individual spamming you might aswell just use .?ignore

Why don't we get cool little great white sharks as ship #9 with cool laser beams on their heads for weapons? That'd be so cool, then we could build a space station for a map and have TWL-SWL (Sharks with lasers) and I win, so gg.

There's only so much people can ask for before they cross the line of bein lazy and bein logical. This one is more of the former, I believe. Too much work, not enough effect.
