You have to admit the similarities are there. Hitler rose to power amongst a mass of desperate and ignorant people, and they in turn hailed him like a god.

Rich is talking about real abbreviations not these stupid little "time saver" things you do over MSN. There are formal and informal ways of writing. If you have a vaild point, opinion and want people to fully take it into account, dont even freaken bother using them. Also if this teacher is teaching using "u" and such in a class room, then he is an idiot. You can't mix this up for kids or they'll be writing I Rz coozz ect.. in essays.
