I hate shraps because I hate the factor luck in a game. I think 95% of the time with eliter' players shrap is luck, and with newbies shrap is 99,9999999% of the time luck... Though Trench Wars will forever be newbie-friendly, so shrap will never be removed. That's also why shrap is only removed from TWLJ because they know no newbies play there..
I've discussed getting it removed on weekends similar to Pure Basing Weekend. Those guys that have problems with standard pub settings get a bit of time to try it out with some of the irratating stuff removed. Why not with baseelim?
I've yet to see a good argument for shrap. Nothing yet posted here stands as a solid argument for shrap.
Face it, shrap is random. Shrap is luck, shrap should be gone. =)
TWLB Champion Season 1 (Light)
TWLD Champion Season 6/7 (Elusive/Syndicate)
TWLJ Champion Season 7 (Syndicate)
1 of the first 2 to get all 3. (Fireballz is other)
It wasn't an argument, it was a joke. As you wish:
Shrapnel is a part of the standard Trench Wars settings. It will not change (anytime soon).
In BaseElim they have already been slowed down and their amount reduced to compensate for the crowded space inside the base and even go in fixed directions opposed to the random (semi-selfaiming) shrapnel in standard TW settings.
I am disappointed that some stubborn people are unable to accept a compromise, which is often the best way to solve an argument.
(Base)Elim should also run smooth and without too many delays, so any way to speed up the game a bit is welcome.
(Base)Elim is not a prac arena. The people who wish to specialize and perfect their skills can compete in the leagues. If I am not mistaken TWD will not have shrapnel and is thus a good way to practice (for TWL). (IE: I agree with no shrap in Leagues)
As soon as shrapnel becomes more than just an annoyance, for example when alot of people get killed more by random shrapnel most of the time than regular aimed bombs, we shall reexamine this issue.
However, to show my good intentions I will focus my attention to the baseelim arena this week and see if it is as bad as some people claim it to be.
End of story.
PS: See what you did now? You got my pants all wrinkled.
if you all spent half as much time learning how to aim shrap as you do bitching about its removal, you'd all be fucking great jav players. it's not hard to do, and once you've learned it, you should never get "accidentally" killed by it again.
stop whining and learn how to play. good night.

Why not? If most of the players want to get rid of shrapnel why not get rid of it soon? Why not have a vote on it?

That was like the most useless change ever. You now know in what direction a shrap will go if u see the bomb explode but u also know that every stray shrap will kill u. And that the speed of the shrapnel is reduced is only good when u see the bomb explode and u know where the shrap will come from.

True. Maybe a rule that if there are 2 players left with same amount of deaths that they will have to sudden to 2 deaths. I have no idea if this is possible to work out, but it would speed up the game because mostly delays are done because there are like 2 defensive players left with both 4 deaths.

A totally different point. Baseelim shouldn't be a pracarena, but do we have any pracarenas with bots? No. So please give us pracarenas with bots. At least give us a few arenas where we can do 5on5s, this is a great prac before leaguegames and everyone will appreciate it. Also a few 1on1 and 2on2 arenas with bots would be great. I don't see what could be the disadvantage in this one. Both sides have advantages, staff and the players. Staff have less events (deathmatches, javs) to host and players don't have to wait till there's finally a multifreq deathmatch/javs.

[i]50% is a ridicilously high number. I think I die of random shrapnel like 25% a game. Which I think is way too much, this game shouldn't be about luck, if you want luck go play a game with a dice. I just think that after many years of having a lot of people complaining about shrapnel we should just get a vote and see if the majority wants shrapnel or not.

PS: Prac-arenas!

Gerbs my point is that shrapnel is random 99% of the time. I can aim shrapnel, but I rather have 2/3 less kills every game than 4 more deaths. And that you don't die of stray shrapnel after you learn how to aim it is total bullshit. :/

i never said that. what i was implying is that if you do get hit, then it's your own damn fault and deserve to die. there's no "accidents", only "fuckups".

Not really. The current speed of shrap is such that you can still be so that you cannot avoid it. If the shrap is coming at you from 2/3s to the edge of your screen, and you just bounced off a wall or are momentarily slow, because of the crappyness of the dodging ability of the jav, the shrap can still kill you. Yes you can still avoid, but in many instances you see it come at you, you try to leave but you can't.
Also please recognize that this shrap can in many times come from bombs that originate off your screen and explode suddenly. The absolute time to avoid is small. And even if you DO avoid it, it would probably take 1/2 or most of your energy to thrust away, leaving you completely vulnerable and usually resulting in another stupid indirect death (i.e. prox from a bomb that normally wouldn't of killed, or random bullets, or having someone chase you can you can't run away cause you have no energy).
The fact is shrap ruins a lot of the skill and a lot of the fun in the game.
Test's are being run as to the amount of shrap deaths. I'll give you the results as I get them (editing this post in consequence, or the person running the tests will give them .. whatever, you'll get 'em )

i happen to like shrap. it's an unpracticed dimension of the jav game that very few people use properly. but then again, i spent tons of time in a shark dueling against warbirds.. so i learned how to aim shrap effectively. now you want to take away that aspect of the game just because you aren't good enough to move when you see shrap.
you're oppressing my style, culture, beliefs, and my people. we must unite and prevent these people from creating a master race of trashtalking wankers who don't know how to dodge.
