I asked some random staffer how many staff were online at 10am GMT once... and i think something like 3 were there... and 2 were idle

I'm sure that if there was some way to prevent the shortage of mods, staffers would have addressed it accordingly already. Theres obviously going to be more staff online in the evening than at midnight because thats when more players are on. I find it rare to have a shortage of staff even in the wee hours of the night. Rudy Mootland... exc are always helpful and active. I think the staff is doing a wonderful job at having mods online 'round the clock... though thats just my opinon.

A new dean?

It's obvious that staff is short, but, that is most likely because Pure_Luck can't do his TWL work and recruit staff at the same time. The application idea would make it even harder for him, i'd say. He has a bot to check for recomendations.. But really, when he is doing his TWL work how can he check it every so often.. Get another dean in my opinion, and he should help recruit to solve these problems that the majority seems to be complaining about

PL is very active and the bulk of the TWL work is done on weekends. He also has a large staff now to hand off tasks to. What we need is a way to make the Dean's job easier and to keep stuff organized for potential recruits like a private sub forum, we don't need another dean right now. We also don't need more Zone Helpers, we need more active ERs and Mods on staff so anything done now will not solve the problem unless we want to advance current ZH and ER fast.

It can't be that hard to find reliable, trustworthy players that don't abuse their powers, can it? ^-^

I mean, why axe a <zh> that doesn't take enough help calls per month. Even if he only takes 2, it's still 2 less for the others to handle.

This is one of the reasons I decided to turn down the <ZH> role, after being offered this position. Not the only one, but as it stood with the hours I was working in RL, I would have had a prob from the get go meeting the help call quota.

TW doesnt need better staff, just more organized one. (They should recruit people from different parts of the world, or people who are online at weird times for themselves. And yes, I think they are trying to do that.)

i think he means having more mods that are in different time zones, so then there will be a mod on at any one time

No, the chunk of staff should be the <ER>'s, or at least thats what it is supposed to be, to tend to the large chunk of staff's purpose which is to host events. If we increase the number of mods, that just takes away from the <ER>'s, and then we'd have to scramble and get even more ZH's in.
