Personally, I think the Cpt has been a good guy so far. It is far too early to tell though, so this thread shouldn't really exist.
Zone Helpers don't always have the answers.. We aren't magic. Not I, or anyone else, can lower your packet loss.
Zone Helpers can and do assist people that don't fully understand the game. We don't always have the answers for the SS junkies that post on this form. Dill will probably know just as much as a new ZH. We do help newer players with things like macros, switching freqs, why a lev is so damn slow, why they can't jump into elim whenever the heck they feel like it and how a chat works. People are needed to assist the players with questions like those and that is why we exist.
We also exist to make the public feel that they are not ignored. If a mod isn't around and someone asks for a score reset I will politely tell them a mod isn't around right now. I can't help, but I can make them feel like there is a staff out there that can help them in the future.
Also, these ZHs move on to become excellent staffers. This is another important aspect of the whole ZH position. It provides training and helps the smods see who has potential. Joe <ZH> might look worthless and stupid, but a few months later Joe <ZH> is DarK! or Mythrandir or Ara.
There are exceptions of course, and any renegade staffers or people that simply don't pull their weight are dealt with. I'm sure Ari or Spam or DoCk don't like seeing the ZHs and ERs screwing up their staffs reputation.
About age... Erathia is a fairly young staffer and though he has had a slightly turbulent time on staff no one can deny he is a hard working host/moderator. Even if he has some issues in the past he at least proves that a young staffer can have potential. I realize that it was pointed out that Cpt isn't even young.. I'm just commenting on that point because it's important even if Cpt isn't young, imho.
