  • Make changes in TW. Please

A new system just rode into town on a beautiful white pony. Its name is the Trench Wars Proposal System, and it's bound to turn a few heads with its draconian documentation and unbearable attention to detail. But best of all, it can be used to modify ANYTHING in Trench Wars.

I know you've probably read about this on the news page, but then some people just read the forums, so prove me not so much an idiot as much as a patronizing son of a bitch when I say that you should check out the new proposal system and turn Trench into the place you want it to be. The sky is the limit.

Hate pubs? Make a proposal to eliminate them entirely. Love cloakers? Let's have an all-cloaker zone. The Trench Wars Proposal System is your oyster, and just like an oyster, it's also an aphrodisiac. Write your proposal, and reach complete sexual arousal at the same time.

Please see the new TWPS webpage at:

    http://www.trenchwars.org/twps/

And the new TWPS archive forum for new, rejected and finished proposals at:

    http://forums.trenchwars.org/forumdisplay.php?f=97

It will make my day, and yours too. And maybe if we see eachother in TW, we can talk about it a little, I can answer your questions and possibly help you proposing. I'll also check this thread, so please feel free to ask any questions you may have here as well. I know it's a big system, and I know the documentation is beyond enormous. But that's because I'm not lazy, and I'm a nerd. Please call me a nerd in Trench Wars, because I love Trench Wars.

According to DoCK>, Trench Wars Public settings are not up for dispute. So right now I'm quite confused.

BUT, if we have better ideas about the whole "setting" issue without people arguing back and forth... itsnt it good then? :P Might even make TW more popular... who knows~

While the intention of TWPS isn't to make settings changes -- rule changes, policy changes, etc., are more of the focus -- when I asked DoCk> what should be restricted, he only set that the creation of new leagues will not be allowed at this time, as we have enough already. Others are fair game. However, to change pub settings, one would most likely need an incredible number of signatures to show that there was extremely massive support for such a controversial issue.

That said, if DoCk> doesn't wish for TWPS to be able to attempt to change pub settings, he needs to tell me so we can argue about it. :>

TW Rule #6, and it looks bad when trying to get a proposal passed and you're banned for breaking rules.

Qan, do we HAVE to fill out this lengthy proposal document? - Could we not just do a paragraph or two about what we want?

And also...does the proposal have to be changing something? Can it be adding something new.

As far as my understanding goes, this system is provided to make possible changes, be it additions or subtractions or just change in general.

Please make as many changes as you want. But please use the system. The system is designed in the way it is to prevent people from making frivilous suggestions. We want serious suggestions, but at the same time, if it's a good suggestion we want to make sure that it's heard.

Rest assured this system is fully supported by staff all the way up to DoCk> himself. Thanks to the efforts of qan, Trench Wars finally has a system where people can submit suggestions which will be heard. No longer will you post on the forums with suggestions with the idea that no important will actually read your post. So suggest away, and let's make this into a zone for all of us more than ever before!

It would be a neat feature if Qan could put up current proposals that are either "in discussion within staff" and those that are pending among the player community for approval or staff approval.

Yep yep! It's a necessary part of the system, I think, for the public to be able to openly view proposals. That's why the proposal archive was created alongside TWPS. It houses proposals pending review among upper staff members, those that have been rejected, and the success stories that have been accepted and eventually, implemented into TW.

                      Check out the archive here:

                      http://forums.trenchwars.org/forumdisplay.php?f=97

In regard to your questions, RascaL, Epi is right on the mark there. We want people to be serious about what they propose, and we want to know who is doing the work (not just a paragraph that says, "Hey, someone should really do this"). This does require some initiative finding people who will help you on your project. But you'd be surprised at how many people there are who want to help. Talk to me and I'd be glad to get you in touch with some talented and resourceful individuals who may lend a hand.

In response to your second question, absolutely. Adding is definitely part of the system, which falls under the 'Independent' class of proposal (as opposed to 'Reform' which takes old stuff and makes it better).

It may seem daunting, but really, once you get started making a proposal is not that hard. Take a look at the proposals that have been submitted so far, and the sample proposal on the TWPS site for an idea of how it should look.

                      Thanks for the interest!
