  • The New Weasel is Ridiculous

Let me start off by saying that I'm not a big fan of change and my bias will most likely pervade this entire post. Sorry.

Okay, so I'm playing public for the first time in a few months today (the pure basing public of course) and my team is completely locked out of the flagroom by an onslaught of jav bombs coming from the enemy every two seconds. So I switch from spider to javelin to compensate and hopefully dumb down their numbers. So I do my thing and after a few 2fers the new itty-bitty weasel comes out of one of those holes and used, what I thought to be, a rocket to propel his bullets about twice as fast at me. I dodged, and after a few seconds he did it again and I thought "they get two rockets now?" and then he did it again and I realized he wasn't using any rockets, but rather thrusting and shooting (what I like to the call the "ol' shift-shot"). I managed to survive all three times (three bullets each time, just so you know...level three) and when I prepared to switch to the offensive mode, he cloaked and escaped out of the base. So I, of course, went for my X-Radar button...but oh wait, they took it away! Okay... cool. So I figure he's gone for a bit and shoot another bomb up when ding, he appears, and kills me. Okay, lucky shot, that's all. And then it happened again. And again. And again, until I got up the nerve to switch to terrier and hunt his little ass.

So I go back in base and spot him, charge with a few bullets and he dodges all of them with a bit of thrusting and then, much to my dismay, pulls the ol' shift-shot on me and I'm dead. Once again, cool. I come back once again and pull the same stunt only this time a set hits him, I go in for some more when he somehow has enough energy to shoot at me almost instantaneously after I barraged him with my weak bullets. Awesome. I go for thirds and he makes a mistake and I manage to kill him. Now he comes back, full thrust with his three bullets in my face. Dead. I now wise up to the fact that he's not really using cloak at all (isn't that what it's supposed to be, by the way, a cloaker?) so I change out to warbird.

And I come back up, and try to kill him. But oh wait, he's a fourth the size of my ship and I only have one level three bullet to shoot at him while he has three. Awesome. We spar for a while and then I got bored and frustrated at the newfound power of this weasel. And then I came on here to bitch about it.

So, when did the weasel exactly become better than three of the most commonly-used ships? And why? In the endless task of bringing the weasel up to par with the rest of the fleet, you (the collective staff) have over-powered it. So, um, change it back. Thanks.

P.S. Bear in mind that I don't claim to be the best in any of the aforementioned ships, but I have been around a while and I can hold my own in each of them. While Joe-Newbie probably stumbled on the new weasel a few weeks ago. For the final time, cool.

Yes, it's ridiculous and needs to be changed.

Apparently, though, 'the settings are not up for debate'. I used to love playing Weasel, but now it's just not as fun as it was. It's not a cloaking ship any more. Noone really uses it to cloak, because you can rack up kills a lot faster without it. Shift-shot shouldn't be taken away from Weasels. It was a very helpful tool before the ship got screwed up, but now you can shoot, how much faster than a Warbird?

I really, really wish they'd fix the damn ship once and for all. In its current state, the Weasel is a joke. :/

The Trench Wars Weasel is supposed to be the cloaking ship. Give it back. <_<

Cylor, they made lancaster the new cloak hunter and gave it x radar. It works rather well, but it's still a stupid patch to the problem, because lanc is not really good for anything else and this leaves all others ships basically helpless.

Rion, of course they cloak. But that's just extra goodie on top of all that Cylor just said. As in, if they're in trouble, they can cloak and run away. Or maybe if some warbird killed them, they can come back, cloak, and the wb has rather slim chances. Or they can use just cloak with no stealth, so their energy doesn't go down. Yea you can still see him on radar, but try to hit something that small using just radar. If he's cloaked, it's a bit hard to see from radar when he's boost shooting, and when you notice it, it's too late.

I'm kind of partial to the old new settings myself. Where the Javs still had X-Radar, the weasel had just become small, and the lanc had it's upgrade, with nothing else changed. I like the new tile set though.

Just take away the cloaking power of the weasel. It's small enough that it's size should merit it not having cloaking capabilities.

I do not mind the weasel and sometimes will play as one, but I almost never use the cloaking feature. I also notice that most of the good or regular playing weasels do not cloak either.

It is nice that the ship can be used in a more active role than it was prior to the size change. That goes for the Lanc too. More people have been using this ship since it's changes.

Keep the weasel, just get rid of the cloaking option. Being that small and with a good speed from thrusting, they will still have the advantage when being fired upon even w/o cloaking.

Only way to beat a weasel is to be a weasel. I agree with the census, the settings for weasel are over powered. Why on earth was it ever changed? Makeing it smaller was an awesome idea, But then giveing it ridiculous energy and very good maneuverability was a bad move. Even terrs fear weasels now. No one is safe! Lock up your daughters!

Fixed. People that used to play Weasel yearn for our ninja-stealth powers back. If we wanted an assault ship we'd play a Warbird, Javelin, Spider, Leviathan or Lancaster.

Well since my post was corrected in the quote stage, I felt compelled to correct your diction from your post

...i normally don't cloak using weasel and i never used to cloak with the old settings... i prefer dodging the bullets to practice.

I still haven'tchecked the new settings. I'll post what i think about them later.

Not to mention the fact that by taking x radar from javs, it basically leaves the friendly roof jav defenseless to lamers.

There's no such thing as friendly roof jav. All roof javs are nasty spawns from hell who want nothing but agony to the world.
