I recently rewrote a bit of the purepubbots to allow a few more things to be done. Want to be very clear in saying that the pubs are not running these options, nor necessarily should they, and that the bot is now just capable of doing it. I added them in to test out a new subarena with the settings, as a different kind of game that's still based on the pub premise.
Anyhow, with that disclaimer, here are the additions:
- Option of automatically warping everyone, instead of people needing to use !warp. This gets everyone pretty heavily involved in base, but then again it's automatic warping of everyone regardless of where they are.
- Option of restricting ships to a certain number based on the number of people in the arena.
Again, I don't intend to have either of these options running in normal pub; most people consider them far too restrictive to the style of pub, which is probably true. I wanted to implement them as a way of seeing how such a competetive-style game would work in a free ship and freq change kind of environment. I'm trying it out in ?go pubbase which has the unfortunate disadvantage of not having a new influx of pub players. In the end I don't think the arena will work because of that, but if it doesn't, well, at least it didn't take too long to implement.
Anyway, just looking for your opinions on these kind of options.
