Well it has been around 2 years since the last minor revision of Continuum by priitk. I was wondering is a new revision coming out soon?
What will most likely be changed or improved in the next Continuum revision?
Though many of the ideas I propose would most likely need a SS Server revision as well. It would be great if priitk and the guy who worked on ASSS to work together to both improve the Continuum Client and SS server to allow for more additions to this game.
New Ideas or improvements:
rumour: I read on SS developer forums that priitk major priority is to make the SS protocal more efficient/smaller packets to help Server providers save money. Also the author of ASSS will help port SS server to LINUX, so the hosting costs will be reduced.
#1: Have a way to detect and stop Memory hack cheaters. This way a bot could verify that the client's settings correspond to server settings.
#2: Have asteroids or space debris as objects that cause damage and move. It would be quite interesting if you have asteroids flying around. I thought if they can have Shrapnel, why not asteroids?
#3: Option to have bounce damage when you hit walls or asteroids or other ships.
#4: I thought about this idea a while ago, having a Z-Space.. still 2d, but you can ascend/descend on the map and have a parallax scrolling effect to see ships/walls underneath you. This might too hard to do or radical of a chance, but who knows.
Anyone has other ideas? Well if I think of others and this thread has some activity I may add more.
I strongly think that if some more additions are added to this old game, it will prolong the life of it. Also this 2D multiplayer game engine has incredible potential which would make everyone's gaming experience alot more fun.
