My first time experience propsing an idea to mod directly/upperstaff

Hi everyone !

Today, I proposed and idea directly to Dock>, this idea was about adding a <GT>, yup a third tag, how cool! Any ways, GT would mean "Game Tutor".

What would be the job of this new Tagged guy? Lets find out!

He/she would stick around in pubs, and automatically, with out being questioned, would start making freindly suggestions about how to use ships successfully, and help the team out a little.

This new <GT> person, would also help other get along, and enjoy the game, instead of making it a stressful experience, perhaps even make it feel more welcome into the zone. (so what happened to this idea? keep reading and findout):

Whats my problem? Well, it's quite simple

After explaining my idea to dock, here are the responses I had recieved:

(DoCk>)>harassing upper staff members and claiming we don't care
(DoCk>)>is totally wrong
(DoCk>)>sorry i'm done with you, you've insulted us enough
(DoCk>)>you don't understand, or you'd never propose an idiotic idea like this to me

Sidenote= Please tell me where I have insulted you, so that I will watch my letters next time?

Only thing I said was

No where NEAR as bad as what he said to me, that being something I said AFTER being insulted multiple times.

Sidenote= Have you really dock? think about it buddy, look at what you have said and try to realize, you have said nothing nice so far.

Get to the points last rites, what are you trying to say? Let me tell you then fellow readers of these forums:

If you are not open to new ideas, this zone will die soon.
If you think an idea will not work, tell the person why perhaps. (there is an example of this in the "getting alright" section.
If you are going to call my idea idiotic, then you must be showing that sort of attitude to others who have tried to help, with not so great ideas.

Believe it ppl, it actually gets OKAY as I continue to talk to DIakka. After trying my best to be respectful, and nag a little, I got a PROPER response for once through this long conversation:

It may have been to make me stop talking, but it made me feel alot better, and make it seem more professional. Props for evasive, thanks bro. (jsut dont try to make you sarcasm stand out so much). ALso, why is it that a lower level staff member was able to supply a more satisfying answer, then those who are in the higher levels of staffing?

The greatest question= Why must I go through whay can be compared next to "hell" to get a higher staff to listen? Why not simply be open-minded about certain things, instead of jumping to conclusions and saying that an idea is "idiotic" or "stupid"? Why?

I later realized the idea was kind of silly, but only AFTER diakka took her time to explain to me.

Perhaps if the person I talked to FIRST could have explained, I would have let go. But I was never satisfyed from those ugly remarks.

P.S. Perhaps one day certain things will be changed, such as not having to go through crap to get a point across. Also, there are so many bad things I could have pointed out, so many more it's not even funny. I'll be nice, and let 90% slide. I'll think twice before my "idiotic" and "stupid" are suggested. Btw, Staffers need to stop thinking they are above those who are, "non" staffers.

Your manner is like.. superior, almost like you're dictating that if your ideas aren't used and heard then the entire zone will die, which I'm sure won't happen for a good while. Try to put yourself in their position, they put their time and effort into this program and so many people bitch about it constantly. I'd get fucking irritated, too

I tihnk the reason I wanted to help, was BECAUSE I realized how much pain they go through, maybe thats why I even offered to help?

I read say 32,3% of your post, and none of the replies, but I can tell you the staff is currupt.. Specially the forum staff, a nice guy like myself got harassed by them without any reason..

In order to resolve these unjustises I will now run for Zone OP, that is, whenever we get rid of this hierarcy system.. I'm not willing to sniff ass to become a mod ok?

Also, on a totally unrelated note, I'd like to congratulate Rule and demonfaze for finally taking the next step in their relationship. Who would have thought that 2 players would hook up in an online game? Not me definatly. I hope you guys adopt a kid and teach him how to play subspace! JK, best of luck to you both!

Well, we have the ?help command and Zone Helpers (<ZH>s) to help those that need it. Having someone sit in an arena all day giving tips is not something someone will be willing to do...it's very monotonous unlike being a ZH.

I was simply pointing out something that can also be improved.

First, I'd like to state that trying to convince a sysop at 2am to make big changes to staff, especially when he's trying to go to bed, probably isn't the best way to go about things. Pure_Luck and Mantra-Slider are the co-Deans of staff and are in charge of Staff matters, they are the upper staffers you should be respectfully approaching. But they too are incredibly busy, which is why I suggest you instead create a proposal to send to TWPS. The system has been very useful so far and is a far more appropriate podium for requesting these staff changes.

Personally I can say that your proposal does have some merit though, because last week Training Staff already began taking steps to make sure that at least our new ZHs come to pubs and help out with new players learning the ropes. I would like to eventually include all of the ZHs in this practice, but they will not be 'hanging out' all day long in the pubs because they do take help calls and some ZHs are event hosts.

Lastly, players don't have to be on staff to help out new players in pubs. One of your above requests is that the person would "stick around in pubs, and automatically, with out being questioned, would start making freindly suggestions about how to use ships successfully, and help the team out a little." You can do this right now if you wish, or even start a squad for just this purpose. You don't have to wait to be invited to staff before you can be nice and helpful.

Please tell me, how would you respond if some random you've never heard of pm'd you and started talking shit? First time, probably you'd be nice. You don't know that for a fact, infact you are wrong. I have told some of my friends about the idea. I did not simply jump onto it.

I would like to thank you guys for coming here and replying.

Hope fully I can get my hands on a squad named "Game Tutors" and a name representing, along with a tag, that this person maybe able to help them out. I'll think ion it also. I hope more players will go towards basing in the future.
