Tell us how you proceeded to fight against this monstrous creation called Life, and how every time when that mean little boy named Tommy kicked your barbiedolls you were playing with outside, you didn't want anything more than to run back crying to your mommy's skirts and have her gently caress your head telling you not to worry because: you are more precious than any treasure in this world, and you're oh so gentle like a spring flower growing on a snowy mountain side, and you tell me if anyone looks at you the wrong way, I will take them away myself!
Oh but no, your mommy was too busy teaching Schnutzi tricks like "sit" and "roll over", something that you too would secretly practice in the darkness of your room, in hope that one day when you get really good at it, you will be able to charm your mommy with your skills so that she will completly forget that poodle who was stealing your righteous spot. Oh how you wished Schnutzi was dead!
And then, my God, came first introduction to school where you met other people that did not look anything like the plastic ones you got so comfortable with, and lets be honest about it, you did get your first kiss from one of the Wendy's friends while you were drinking imaginary tea dressed in that beeeautiful red and pink dress with little yellow elephants on it.

<Fast forward to today>
Here we can see the whole shebang: how you cried every time you had to change clothes for the gym class because you knew they would laugh at your pink toenails, the stuffings into lockers where you realised that your imaginary fear of the dark, is actually the real thing, jerking off with your door unlocked in hope your mum will come in, stealing her underware which you then would keep under your pillow just so that you can feel like she was there, that scent of her lulling you into sleep every night, and in later stages of your life, going to tranvestite bars and paying men who had done a hormontreatment serious cash so that you could see their withered genitals, which not only would turn you on, but also made you feel so much better about yourself, something that would go lost when boys named Sweeper would call you names.

I try to make people more concious about how the social aspect of the game is slowly falling apart, and I get a beautiful comment asking me to stop "whining".

Years ago new populations of players were encouraged through several means: mainly by having seperate zones for different level of skills (aka alpha and chaos) and also by making good players get negative points when they went after players with bounty lower than a certain amount. See how this would help PROMOTE new players to advancing along?

How can my post even be remotely considered as "whining"... when i'm trying to make a valid point here...

If you consider me to have an ego because of my little "history of zingy" blurb, then there is a severe misintepretation. Do I go around degrading the community using this "ego" you claim that I have? No.

You also go on to psychoanalyse people you don't know, based on an anonymous communique (the internet). That makes you quite prejudiced, in the terms of judging someone who you have no information or knowledge about.
I won't go into too much detail but it is your own "ego" Zingy, that has forced you to bring your argument with Sweeper to the forums, thus causing further arguments aimed at yourself.

Yes the community worked well split into collective skill groups for svs, but this isn't svs, and tw has always been this way as far as i remember in my own newbie days 5 or 6 years back now. In fact i remember the pubs being a lot worse for whining back then.

Anyway to get to my point...

the reasons for people to continue playing this game will diminish further if the community continues to degrade itself; and I hope that doesn't happen, because after having this game survive for so long, it would be a shame for it to fall over such a trivial reason.

The community isn't falling apart, yes there are some highly competitive people that take things into insulting when they win/lose, but that is to be expected from people that take this game so seriously, much like any sport. Have you seen any footballers (soccer) being polite and friendly having a cup of tea together during half time?

I couldn't care less what someone says to me, that was not at all the point of this post -- I used that as an EXAMPLE.

I was trying to add a broad viewpoint of how everyone doing this can affect the game population.

-A new player finds out about this game and installs it.
-Player enters pub.
-Someone repeatedly kills him and calls them "EZ" and "Newb".
-After dieing some more times and getting spawned a few other times, the player leaves, uninstalls SS and goes back to WoW or whatever game he was adicted to before he found out about SS.

How's that?

Anyways, when I was new to this game, I personally did not care if people said "ez" or "noob. Infact, I was so noob, I did not even realize they were talking to me. Even if I did, I agreed with them, the fact is, I was noob at those times, I simply did not care, I do understand your point your trying to make.

I think the fact that cheating is more rampent on TW and and most other zones today, TWL is not running, EG is getting a bit better and that games like WoW are opening up to massive numbers of people just now, are all precfectly logical reasons why we're not getting 700+. Shit talking has always existed in B/Elim. I wouldn't consider the random elim kid to be worried about the community or whatever someone has to say about his "shit" so unless you want to suggest imposing a ban on being rude... nothing will change. I suggest surrounding yourself with people who dislike shit talking and be an example.

The comunity on tw is one of the nicer online comunities I played in.

WOW has the power of a whole marketing department behind it. TW doesnt even have an advertising budget :P all it has is

I only found the game again by chance one day wen i was looking in the mpogd directory and remberered playing it a couple of years ago at school.

The real reason why its harder to attact new players is because companys though advertising are forcing down peoples throats that 3d is better - u need better and better graphics more and more realism.

Gaming isnt about fun any more - its an "experience".

I like the fact people care about winning in ss. when people stop caring ss wont be fun anymore. Its far far more statifying and fun to beat someone whos bin calling you newb for the last hour than someone who goes "ah unlucky" every time.... The best games in twd i;ve player were the close ones even when we lost - almost beating stor was was of my favorite games. It wouldnt have been fun it people hadnt cared.

Everything has to be in 3d now - even worms - even when it adds little to the gameplay and fun of the game.

Seriously tho there are very few games you can buy now that provide more fun and entertainment than continum (which is free). The majority of new games are overpriced pieces of crap not even worth the time to download on bitorrent. I completed half life 2 in a day i dont play it any more. I still play continum.

I miss the days of c&c and red alert / total annhilation / transport tycoon duluex / civilisation 3 / worms / simcity 2000 / yoot tower / half-life and many more...

OK well today when I get on SS i'll be sure to troll around a bit and piss people off.

Afterall, looks like the general consensus is that no one has a problem with it, and in fact it is a GOOD and POSITIVE thing.

Alright everyone, no need for anymore replies, looks like the "people" have spoken.

And from now on i'll be sure to dissect every word of everyone's posts and take the most obscure interpretation of it, since that's what everyone has been doing to my posts.
