so you never coded before... you don't have twcore.. and you think it's ez to code a bot like this ? i'm sure when you download the twcore you can't even get it to work andt hen when you finally get it to work you will find out how hard it is to code bots!

You've also got the problem of how to allow the bot to register damage as I don't think there is much support for handling weapon packets in twcore? I'm not sure about that

and for the jav bot I think you only have to let it shoot bombs since the settings take care of wheter bombs bounce or not

Oh and it's not the first time I made bots, btw. =p I've made many bots for my own zone, I only used MERVBots. It's a bit different, but I'm working on TrainBot, and I only got a few problems, and that's the dodging skills of my TrainBot, I even got a prototype made. And the bot worked! Well, not optimal, but it moves. It moves a bit weird, and it won't dodge yet, but I'll fix that, and then you all will have silence. =p

I aint no genious, but making a basic bot, such as a Host bot or Duel bot is not complicated. You just gotta fill in the commands and actions ect, and get it into action. I dont know which program i have ( ) but it makes bot production fairly easy.

I don't see how a piece of code would make someone master this game faster. I think you would learn more of duel between a bunch of elimwhores than fighting something that lacks any form of anticipation, which is what dogfighting is all about.

Nyamo what you should try first (not even in bot form, forget about bots for the moment) is reading a map file in and making an algorithm that figures out a path from point A to point B. If you're feeling adventurous at this stage, you can even try getting an object that can only thrust and turn to follow that path.


I would just suggest starting small for a project like this.

You would need to use shot prediction algorithms (aren't there some embedded in SS source? If you know the geometry and movement of the ship at moment of fire, and if you know the attributes of the weapons and ships, you should be able to predict where the shot goes.
