I spoke to DarK! today about coding a friends list into continuum. He told me that he had spoke with Priitk and he said it wasn't one of his top priorities. Personally I think it would help alot and should be what do you think?

It would lag the server too much...since it would all go over it, plus like bob said, i doubt priitk would do something to support piracy...you got to ask him first though

DCC traffic has nothing to do with the server, all the server does is allow clients to establish ports for the TCP connection

priitk wouldn't support piracy? dude, he was involved with the company that made kazaa. he may even have been involved with kazaa.

it has nothing to do with piracy, it's about sending banners/pics/ss graphic replacements/sounds/porn whatever. if people choose to use it for piracy, fuck, that would be pretty damn stupid since IRC or "kazaa" or whatever provides a much more reliable interface than a 2-d spaceship game. I'm talking about small transfers, not star wars movie rips. you cockblockers.

also: there already is a file transfer system implemented in ss/cont, but it's only client<->server. I'm talking about taking that and allowing client<->client connections.

I personally don't have anything against Warez sharing, since I'm dloading 3 games at the moment...but whatever

It would barely lag server at all. All the server would do is process requests to send a file to someone else. Probably give you the other person's IP to your client which in turn connects to the other and establishes a connection.

And on the file sharing thing: only desperate newbies would use SS to transfer warez. It would be extremely unreliable since most people would wait 9 hours to upload a 600 meg game to somebody while not able to play. Plus this will never be implemented so you all can stfu now, thanks.

PS: RiArmada, you're an idiot.

Edit: And why the fuck do we need all of these features? There is a point where features become counter-intuitive. You could easilly make your friends go to a chat or something, go use Kazaa to download your shit. Its like making a robot to tie your shoe. WHATS THE FUCKING POINT.

People could easily make a bot which sends files with triggers like !get xxx. Just like those lame dcc servers in irc, sigh.
