If cheating is increasing, I'd say the reason can be found from CE forum.

Squads aren't penalized if just a normal player cheats, because it's impossible to know a squadmate cheats if he doesn't tell you he does. I think it's right that way. If a squad has 50% of their members cheat I think it's enough of a punishment to have half the roster banned for a year+.6:megaman89> im 3 league veteran back off

You can already run CE in stealth and deep kernel mode.
If people like the programmers for UT and CS can't prevent it, and they get paid to, then I don't think anyone working on SS could.
Also Soupero, you called me racist names (as usual), I replied with spamming you, YOU RACIST LITTLE BITCH, nothing wrong with that.(\ (\

What are your feelings on cheaters themselves? I know most of you have already come in contact with several people who have told you that they used "cheats" or may have shown them to you, and what is your reaction to this? apathy? indifference? anger? amusement?
any and all rants will be appreciated.
Cheating is definately on the rise. In fact, the past year and a half has seen a humungous increase in the use of cheats.
I don't think staff does a very good job. Mainly because staff doesn't bother looking for cheaters. It is also difficult to tell if someone just has lag or is really cheating. The only way this problem is going to get fixed is if Priitk releases a patch that addresses it.
People that are using cheats are pretty much just dumb bastards. Cheating in a game like this makes it pointless to play in the first place. Anyone can cheat to be good.

I mean, if the people at Valve working on HL hadn't released the source, there wouldn't be any CS, and there'd be significantly less cheaters.

patching a game in an attempt to stop memory hacking and/or debugging type programs is like handing a "where's waldo?" book to a group of blind kids and telling them to have at it.
so many people fail to realize this when they start asking for client updates.jasonofabitch loves!!!!

I think you guys have some serious misconcept about what staff is trying to do and how effective it is. I can't say I blame many of you though, those efforts are kept private for many reasons but mainly to discourge cheating.
There isn't a lot of cheating but it is more common because of CE. Because lag has a great effect in game play in Continuum most of the complaints about hacking/cheating is nothing more then uninduced lag or packetloss, a good number of cheating cases falls under this because the public is in fear mode over cheating.

And also, Im unsure if this can be done in any way. But something needs to be done in TWL/TWD with all the newbies that have 15 downloads going while they play in a match.Last edited by kronic; 01-05-2006, 07:42 PM.

Cheating has defintely gone up. I don't think anyone would disagree with that. The longer a client has been out the more prone it is to cheaters.
The past month or two though it's picked up a lot. I pub everyday, and on average I see one cheater every other day. I'm not one of those people who thinks someone is cheating because they ate a shot. I'm talking about CE users. I know what it looks like when someone is cheating. Like when a terr fires off three bursts real close together when he's in a tight spot and his bounty hasn't changed.
Problem is, despite what I've seen some staffers say on these forums, catching people who cheat with memory (hex) editor programs is near impossible if they don't go around making it obvious (like firing off 30 bursts within 10 seconds). All we can do is wait and see if PriitK will make Continuum open source, or, make a new version himself.Last edited by Kontrolz; 01-06-2006, 07:19 PM.(ZaBuZa)>sigh.. i been playing this game since i was 8... i am more mature then ull ever be...
