Ok so many of you know me as Endangered or Lemar, and im going to tell you a story of what happened with my favourite name Endangered. Id been playing on Endangered for about two years, and then we started to switch names on a chat, often Zerzera would go on my name.
However once as a joke he went onto my name and changed the pw, this was ok as it was only a joke and id get my pw back, not. The next day all his names got whiped, he lost his chats, names and passwords.
My first question therefore is why do names in my directory and others sometimes get whiped, meaning i lose all my names and pws?
Ok my name was lost, i can not do lost password as when i signed up i used the hotmail address XxX@hotmail.com, thinking ss would spam me, stupid i know. Never in game was i given the chance to change the email address to one of my own after i realised the importance of this. Why are players not given an option like ?changeemail, just like ?change pw. I know your thinking the billers can do it, apparently they cant as becomes evident later in the story.
So i cannot get my name back through lost password, and so i turned to staff for help. I asked how i could get my name back, many said turn to Platinum-halo, Id like to inform you he quit as a biller, he is no longer in charge, Mackieman is. They did however give me a link to the lost name form. So i sent off a form thinking, yey, im going to get my name back, WRONG. It took two weeks for an email to be sent back saying i did not fit the requirements and i can not have the password to my name.
So i was pretty angry, all that time for nothing, i started to think maybe i should use Gashi and get this over with. Knowing nothing about Gashi, and everyone who did being banned, this was unfortunately not an option.
I pretty much gave up on my name, i spoke to Mantra-Slider who kindly ip checked the name Endangered, matching it to Zerzera as i expected. I asked Zerzera to send off a name form, that he did twice and has still not recieved a reply to this date. As i could not contact Mackieman offline I tried to contact him online in game. In a 4 month period I caught him online once, he was afk.
After 4 or 5 months, on the off chance, I went to Pure_luck, I told him the story and he in turn contacted Pointman, a better biller op. Pointman did give me my name back saying I was lucky. Lucky I was and I am very grateful.
So the story ends and there are lessons to be learnt and things that have to be done.
Things a player can do is make sure your amil works, never give out your password either, but why can a player not change his email after the initial form?
The biller system needs to be changed. Heres my advice for people trying to get a name back, Don't look for Mackieman hes corrupt and inactive, you wont catch him and he doesnt check his emails. Go for Platinum-Halo instead, hes active in the zone Extreme-Games. You can catch him throug Pms on there forums or ingame, hes On the squad Impurity. Do not bother sending a name form, this will do nothing for you.
Clearly we as a zone need to do something here. Who decides who are the biller ops, cause he is clearly not doing a very good job. Pointman needs to be given more power, Mackieman has the most power but doesn't use it, Pointman can get your names back but he cannot change their emails, meaning this whole thing could happen to me again.
Mackieman needs to be axed, not step down, he needs to be cut down. We need to get an active team of Biller ops from across the zones, spreading the work load and making the system faster. I believe each major zone should have their own Biller Op, making this an internal affair. However to stop corrupt it must be headed my an individual, such as Pointman.
