Anyways, I'll admit that I have a tendency of dropping the n-bomb when I'm drunk, and quite frequently at some points, but that's more of a slip-of-the-tongue and not meant to be offensive or even racist. However, that's different then more thought out typing of the word, 'cause your fingers don't usually slip 6 letters and hit enter before you realized you've dropped the n-bomb. I guess the point is there's no need to say it in game.. or something, I don't really remember what the point was, but it can be offensive. I'm retarded, for the record.. Gotta get back work.

What I don't get is how people take the excuse of there being a double-standard about racism against whites and use that as an argument to get rid of the racism policy.

If there's a rule and it doesn't get enforced in one particular case, the natural solution is to start enforcing it. Close the loop hole, as it were. That's the way people normally think for any other rule like this. Look at the arguments over TWL's rules and the complaints when some rules weren't perceived to have been applied correctly. The reaction was to get it right and apply the rule correctly. There's no sudden push to get rid of the rule or change the rule.

And yet, when it comes to the racism rules, that's what happens. Why is that? The natural reaction should be to fix the rule, not to get rid of it entirely.

There is a bad problem with allowing it on chats but not in pub...letting it happen on chats is just keeping the racism around, albeit not in public...so really, there is racism in Trench Wars...just none that you can see. But it's still there, so if you're going to get rid of it, stick it to pirvate chats, as well.

It's all or nothing, doing it halfway doesn't work, obviously.

I like Dock's (real quote?) idea of case-by-case. But honestly, every case would probably get reported anyways (jerk 14 year olds 'getting offended' to see someone get banned etc)

There is no need at all to say any racist word in Trench Wars. It's an online 2-d spaceship game and there are 2 main things those that are "rooting for racism" need to remember:

1-You aren't paying for the game, if you don't like the rules, leave.

2-Other people play this game, there is a little thing called common courtesy.

I don't care who you are, what race you are, how many minority friends you have, or where you grew up. If you can't go through a conversation, or try to make fun of another player online without using a racial slur, TW isn't the one with the problem; you are. Broaden your vocabulary and stop using excuses as to why you should be "allowed" to say racial slurs without consequence.

Would you talk loudly using the words ***** or **** if there were some asian people near you in public? Would you go up to a jewish person and call them a dirty ***?(censoring just in case)

If you said yes to either, do you think they would go down without consequence? You think someone wouldn't get offended and tell you to shutup? It's not a matter of other people here that need to "lighten up" or anything elase similarly asinine, it's a matter of you not taking other people's thoughts and feelings into consideration before displaying your ignorance and lack of social competence with a bright red flag.

Case in point, earlier this quarter at school, in my Contemporary Art class, a girl came in late one day. The teacher asked her why she was late, and the girl sat down at a empty chair in a huff, and spat out two words-

"Fucking Mexicans"

Now, what kind of reaction do you think she got from the 28 other people in the room? Do you think we all laughed it off, shrugged our shoulders and continued on with our work? Of course not, quite a few people had some choice words for her and one guy had to leave the room and cool down so he wouldn't slap the shit out of the stupid bitch. It doesn't matter if she was angry about being late to class, she should have realized that "hey, that's a really stupid thing to say in public", and found another way to explain why she was late. Instead, she disregarded everyone else and decided to basically act like an asshole. As time wore on no one tried to talk to her in class and she eventually dropped it.


Will you get the shit beat out of you if you type out **** in pub? No, but that is no reason to avoid responsibilty and continue to act in a mature fashion. There are plenty of ways you can yell at someone if they "lame" you, there is no excuse to use racist slurs in the game.
