The zoners do brings alot of Pubbers into the ?go base arena. But 99% of the time they never get picked because it awakens the more 'known' players and are more likely of playing.

In the near future, there are going to be games in all Public arenas (I'm working with some TW Dev members as to how the bots should work etc). But instead of just having timed-gamed, there would be points races, most points etc. I agree that ?go base should still be run, but maybe at the 'better' players discretion. I hate seeing ?go base advertised and then seeing the 'newer' players sit out.

I'm all for pub games, but in my opinion that is beside the point I'm bringing up here. ?go base is the only place that basers can get some practice/fun in a game that somewhat resembles a real BD/LB game. Pub games are all fine and good, but the players have no real direction and just fuck around in a big laggy mess.

If ?go base isn't advertised basing is going to slowly die. The problem is that you need 16 willing players in the arena to play a game, which is hard to pull off. People just join the arena and see that there are only 5 other people there, so they just leave and we never get a full house. Usually, when someone does a zoner, we at least get enough to play a game. I think that constant zoners ala elim/belim would keep the arena going a lot more often than it is now.

Sumpson brings up an excellent an highly valid point. Both elim, and baseelim have regular adverts. Yet Base has none, nor does pub 0, or any other form of basing. It's a real shame, and this is an easy problem to fix? Could we please?

As for wbduel, and javduel using adverts.. I'm all for it. I think as long as TWL games aren't going, any type of activity should be advertised to the fullest. If we don't, less new players will get involved in these activities. Like it or not, if the vets don't take the time to deal with newbies, this game will die down.

I urge people, add newbies in base, wbduel and etc. Don't whine or yell when they do something wrong, PM them with tips, and what to do. Newer players respond alot better, and try harder to learn if they've got some old baser PMing them tips.

need to send tutorials for new players if interested, in playing new arenas other than pub. because they have no idea what to do. and when they ask they usually get a "TO GET IN PUSH ESCAPE AND THEN PUSH QUEEN! JA JA!" or just silence cause we all are too elite to talk in pub, especially those -FINAL- members. Answering ?help calls won't help them understand the game, cause A) someone might not respond B) might get a different tutorial of the game C) might get an anti-base staffer respond. Just write up a bot that will send a message when you enter ?go base saying "If you are new to the game and would like an understanding of the following game, please type /!help with your ticker on my name." And when they do !help they get several lines of text that explains how the game is played, and how players get picked.

Now we should take off ?go base2 and put that base under the base in ?go base, cut off all that stupid public asteriods crap, no one fights in that shit. just put the safes higher up, and cut the map in half with one base in the top, and one base in the bottom(your still going up to the base, its just that its in the bottom of the map, not turned upside down). Run time race in top base, and points race in bottom base. For those players who wants only time race they can pm the bot "!to" (time only) and for those who wants only points race, pm "!po" (points only) and if you dont pm any of that, then you would just be available for both bases. And make public text of teams who get picked taken off, and just make it silent private pm to the captains that player has been added. This will take 2 bots I know, but I usually see 2 bots in ?go base when only one of them work. This is just an idea, work around with it.

You people complain too much about how new people will respond to a ?go base zoner. The fact is, that's how most of us found base. Heck, if I remember correctly, the first time I was there I was never picked, but I waited another game and voila! If noobs are such a problem when you play, there exists something called :matchbotR4:!sub player1layer2. Or, often there was an excess of players in base, so all the other people can go in base2.

And of course some random person will ask for cap, and not know what to do, but all you have to do is tell them to use the !help command, or in the welcome to base message, you can provide a link to all of matchbot's commands.

So don't tell me it'll attract the wrong crowd, the point is that they go into base and later want to join squads and become 1337.

I think zoners will work, but it will take an effort on the players part to let new people into the basing 'scene'. I've seen pubbers play in ?go base. They usually do the typical pub things (lining etc) but if you tell em what to do they are quick to learn and correct themselves.

Just pick some new guy that looks like they will know what they're doing, and let em play. Basing needs new players, and fast.

BTW I got word that they're at least working on getting zoners on the bots.

Maybe the bot could have a check, that it will only zone when starting a game _AND_ there are not enough people for a game.

Or maybe add a !zone command that the staff who starts the bot can use, but will only let them do it if it's needed.
