Thats complete BS. You didn't see US players complaining about the server being in Finland. Oh wait, yea, they complained, but they didn't stop playing. No offense but you guys will have to learn to play on USA server if we have played on a Euro server with lag and shit. Bitch and whine some more, cuz i know i did my fair share when it was in Finland. Besides, "losing a percent of TW population" also means adding twice the population of people who play in USA, and also gaining people from zones that didn't make the switchover.

I'm not sure why you people think this will be the end of Subspace.

First of all I'll be willing to bet that the majority of Euros who play TW are either Finnish or Swedish (the Brits have crappy connections anywhere). Overall the Fins and the Swedes have much better connections than North Americans do.

So what's the result? The Finns will have better connections to the new server than North Americans ever did to the SSCU Server. I've seen it in SSCE... Euros get around 150 ping. Meanwhile to SSCU North Americans routinely get 200+ ping.

In limited testing, people are getting these pings:
New York: 20 MS
Seattle: 90 MS
Southern California: 110 MS
England: 120 MS
Netherlands: 150 MS

Even 2d doesn't lag anymore.

Due to the fact that the servers were based in europe, over half of TW's population were Euros. Although this move will upset most people, in time with the servers being located in jamerica there will be more jamericans playing. Lets then move back to Europe to piss the majority off again.

The reason for the server being moved so suddenly was quite
simple, Sonera was closing down gameservers and bringing
back only those it could benefit from, SSCU was not one of them.

Now the move to US.
PriitK could've had a choice, I'm pretty sure he could've found
a new home for SSCU somewhere in Europe. Finland isn't the only
country that's technologically highly advanced that could
host for free.
The reason for moving to US was this: Now TW could get even
more new players, Extreme Games had been growing faster
than Trench Wars. But that's just my opinion. Who knows.

But the fact is that now the new server is being hosted in a
company named superbinternet.com. It isn't free.
PriitK is paying $1000/month for it. It is very possible that
we will have to start using advertisement to get sponsorships
from companies, and collect donations. TW needs a huge
1-2 TB of bandwidth per month, so a home computer won't help
a lot.

At first I was really scared of the East Coast ping.
I had decided that if my ping goes over 250 I'd quit playing TW.
Well now it's 140 which isn't bad at all, I think I'll stay here for a
while In fact, it was quite heartwarming to see the yanks have
max 100 ping in the TW test zone. heh.

This is the start of an new era in TW's history, will it be as long as
the last one?
