Grab a piece of paper. Place a dot in the middle of it. Draw a small circle around the dot, and leave the rest open. The dot represents your knowledge. It's what you know. It is the limit of your mind's capacity. The circle around the dot is everything that you don't know - but you know that it exists. And the rest of the paper is everything that you didn't even know that you'd never know - that exists or has the potential to exist.

I had to get approval from Reaver to do these Tournaments in the first place. Otherwise I couldn't offer the prizes at the end at all. Or at least that is what I was told. So he naturally asked what I wanted to do the tournament for, etc. What he said was correct about the intentions for doing this tournament. No offense to those calling each other newbies, but you do realize that you started off as a newbie at one time, and to be honest, some of you talking are still considered "newbies" to me, yet you don't see me saying you should be booted from the Tournament since most of you obviously think it should be "vets" only. As pascone said, this is not TWL. TWL, I think, should be for the top squads only. This is TWDD. If squads that didn't make it actually cared, they would have stayed the near the top the entire time of TWD. Don't you agree? I mean as far as I've seen it, QS, Aimbot, and others actually did care about winning TWDD games throughout the TWDD since it's reset. So why should other squads be denied this privilege if their competitors didn't care to "try" during this time so far. Besides, this is to help promote TWD games. Maybe next time they'll consider that since TWL starts around January's end, there may be more time to do another Tournament (maybe with less prizes) before the end. Every squad should always try constantly in TWD to be the top no matter what.
I'm not going to take out any squad that has made it thus far. All I have to say is if a squad like Heaven or maybe even Ash wants in, to show up during that time because there may be a no-show or two. Maybe then I'll allow them to take the place of the no-show since I don't like that idea at all. Does that sound fair enough? In the TWJD Tournament, after all, there was around 3 no-shows from squads.

It's not that we don't care, but a lot of our members happen to have lives outside the game and can't necessarily be online (in coordination with 3 or 4 other WBs) to dd whenever it's required within a couple days notice.
The point is you did it too soon after the reset, you made a mistake and now you're backing out. If you really wanted to give "everyone a chance" you could just take the whole twdd ladder and do a tournament that way. Why segregate to the top 16? And if you want only 16, do a random 16.
Anyways this is silly to argue about now so I'm done reading this thread, good luck to everyone in the tournament and consider yourselves lucky you don't have to play Ash.
:P

Vallum, seriously, you have no idea what you are talking about. No offense. If I was backing out, I would have taken squads out that "don't matter" to you guys. That would be backing out. I'm being fair enough to allow a squad to fill in a no-show which actually should be done to increase competition and allow for more TWDD Games. It makes a winning squad actually try for their win in the Tournament instead of letting squads by with forfeits. In fact, I just talked to Ardour about Ash wanting to try this idea out, and he was all for it. I didn't make a mistake at all as I have said. I did this tournament solely to increase TWDD games, which it obviously has. So if you care to speak with me more on this, then go ahead, but try to not make yourself look like a fool by trying to put me down. I know my reasons, and even Ward said this idea was fair. It doesn't allow for favoritism at all, it's more like first come first serve. He is the first to bash if he thinks it isn't.

Enough nonsense. Staff is trying to do stuff to spice things, and the mindless, clueless, ungreatful, come in here and try to make things worse.
You're not helping vallum.

looking forward to the tournament - knowing that this was the twl reset, we at s!! have been busting our ass this season to try to get our teaming down, with decent results, i might add -- as for guys like vallum... well.. you're SOL, with nobody to blame but yourself
i would like to see more of these tournaments - how about a bi-weekly / monthly thing where squads have to sign up? minimum 10 dds played, with an extra 50 pts for the winner... shouldn't be that hard to put together and there'd probably be some good interest in it, particularly from the lower ranked squads.Gripe> apok is good but he's completely wasted his youth playing this game

How did you manage to completely miss my point? This competition is partly for higher level competing squads and also so that people that won't qualify for TWL get to play in something that is more competitive than regular TWD. Regardless of who plays unless some big flukes happen, the games towards the end should still be quite competitive but there might be some boring beginning games. If it's a waste of your time, then don't play in it, better yet, don't accept the invitation.
Edit: Oh and if you want to talk about wasting people's time, how about you look at your squads no-show in last week's TWJD tournament. I have nothing against Diso or you, I like most of the guys on there but don't you think it's a bit too soon to complain about wasting people's time when you just did.Last edited by Reaver; 12-08-2006, 03:20 AM.1:Best> lol why is everyone mad that roiwerk got a big dick stickin out his underwear, it's really attractive :P

How Reaver, how did I miss your point? Only point you had is that pubber squads should be given an opportunity to play, because they wouldn't be given the chance in TWL.
"This competition is partly for higher level competing squads" -Reaver
Moreover, you've just further proven my point of why it's futile to keep horrible squads in this tournament. I would understand if there were no other squads around, but if squads like Ash want to play and we somehow got GiantTiger in, that's a bit unreasonable. But I agree with Lefty's decision of substituting no-show squads during the tournament.
"people that won't qualify for TWL get to play in something that is more competitive than regular TWD" -Reaver
Now that's just plain bullshit. Let me repeat myself: How is it competitive for the horrible squads if they'll just get stomped out in the first round? Wouldn't that be rather discouraging knowing how inferior they are to other squads? In my opinion, the purpose of this tourny should rather serve as a preview for TWL, so the squads know where they stand in relation to each other. If it's for anything else, this it might as well be hosted every week.
Now, I don't want to seem like I'm attacking you Reaver, but I am in a mood for a debate.1:Kthx> Hey Cower ill let you play the next game if you can name me five medieval weapons.

Beyond that, who are you to say GiantTiger shouldn't be in the tournament? They earned their spot in the tournament just like the other 15 squads did. Completely regardless of how good they are, they did the same thing you did to qualify. We didn't start the tournament by saying you need to be top 16 in the ladder and you need to be better than Ash.
I've pointed out countless times already, along with other people that this isn't TWL. Therefore the competition might become as high as TWL, but it isn't guaranteed because we're giving squads a chance to play in the tournament that might not make it into TWL. Hence the idea to make the tournaments announcement short notice.

I'm almost shocked that I need to be this thorough on explaining our intent with this tournament. Either way, if you don't follow after reading this then I doubt anything else I can say can help you understand.1:Best> lol why is everyone mad that roiwerk got a big dick stickin out his underwear, it's really attractive :P

To all those complaining,
I'm going doing to say the following and this will be my last post concerning this issue. I've read through all the posts thus far, and I just wanted to say this. Just like I've said in many of my hosts, "If you don't like the way the game is played, then leave." All squads have the option of leaving, but I can guarantee you that squads won't refuse this chance for the points. I believe, most of the squads in there have tried to stay in Top 10 in TWDD throughout the time since the reset for TWL. Am I not right in saying that? Well then, my question is, no matter what the issue is, shouldn't Ash have tried doing that constantly? It may just be me, but my first thought, if I had been on Ash, as soon as I saw the TWJD Tournament happen, I would have asked staff if there would be one for the other TWD games. And of course, they would have probably said yes. To be quite frank, Ash just wasn't prepared at all, yet somehow Disoblige made it near the last minute. So whose to say that Ash couldn't have done the same? The rosters will stay as set, unless a squad happens to do a no-show, which Ardour said he'd he'd be happy to replace.
I'd really hate to be a hard ass, but I'll say this...
IF ANY PERSON ON ASH HAS ANY PROBLEM WITH THIS, COME FORTH AND I WON'T ALLOW SUCH A THING TO HAPPEN.
Now that it's said and done. Let's see if anyone complains again and such.
My other issue is why do you people constanly harass staff on what they do? Do you guys find it fun? You do realize we don't get paid for this crap. At least Kthx realizes this and doesn't go all out like others. I actually used to be pretty nice and forgiving, but this is getting really old. So from now on, I have the attitude of if you don't like it, then you also have the choice of withdrawling. If this is surely a problem with you as to how I run it, then I'll ask the squad captain if you would like to withdrawl based on your complaints if it goes that far. Deal? Okay, great.sigpic

I have a question... If we decide we want to play 4v4 but Savanger wants 5v5(Or vice-versa), how do you solve this? coin toss? 5's by default?Last edited by applecheek; 12-08-2006, 01:52 PM.

It just so happens that when I accepted the squads, I only copied so far down as Unleash, who eventually made it to squads saying they didn't want to be a part of the tournament. On top of this, I was told right now that -Soulcamp- has been dissolved for feeding in TWD. So, now the choice of acceptance to fill their spot and further remaining spots goes down the TWDD ladder to the first squads that aren't in the tournament. Ash has been offered and if they don't accept by midnight tonight, then it will be given to the next squad. Remind you, games start tomorrow. So there is a time crunch.
