wow if you get this up and running tw might lose all its players, i know i'd make the switch

just a thought about reduced starting stats: if you were to start all ships that have bombs with lvl one bombs and force them to upgrade (if you can even make it so that you can upgrade bomb lvls) it wouldn't make too much of a difference with the jav but if the levi started out with reduced speed/rotation and had to deal with reduced bomb radius it would make it rather difficult to not get annihilated by the "beginners" in wbs (assuming they've got lvl three bullets).

Also just thinking of a jav bouncing a big blue lvl three bomb with full shrap makes my mouth water...

Also maybe throw in a Thor's Hammer every now and then?

oh and you could give sharks higher level mines as an incentive or maybe burst

Apologies for not wanting to read all the text here.. not sure if this was suggested already..

But make sure there is a way to "sell" back stuff you buy with those points.. if that's the sort of system you are developing. That way if I want to toss the points around... no penalties.

Was it Guild Wars that has an interesting system for doing that?

The EMP idea is pretty interesting, actually... I forgot there's a Bomb:EBombDamagePercent setting which allows you to specify the amount of damage an EMP bomb does. It could be reduced, with the damage radius still remaining large for the Levi's larger bombs... only problem is that shark damage would also be based on that. The options there would be living with it and supplementing sharks some other way (maybe the possibility of also getting higher bomb levels), or removing shark EMP altogether. Really wish that guns and bombs were customizable per-ship ... or at the very least, per level...

Re: the turret stuff, the code is basically already implemented in TWBot's flags module (or the new MultiBot's etc utility). We'd just LVZ over it with something pretty.

As for Priit ever releasing the code ... I guess give him another 5 years, a wife and some kids, and yeah, I think he'll release it to a couple people who know what they're doing.

Do you think there is a chance he will ever do that?

    Pimp My ship

Maybe I should make a new thread for this...

Btw sorry I am not a computerwizard like you guys, so I am not making fun of this, just trying to be an input and the only way I know to be an input is 'trying' to be funny ^-^

Oh and next time you're on pm me and I'll take you to the zone, the guy that runs it seems like a nice fellow, might even be willing to share the code. Then again there's a good possibility that it won't work in TW since he'll probably have a different core. I'm not sure what he did but he did it well, they fire with great accuracy, though my ping is low so I'm not sure how it would fare against someone with 200+ ms or if that's even a factor.

The tricky thing about the bombs is that they remain the same amount of damage for every ship and every bomb level -- the radius of damage is the only thing increased between levels. Annoying part of settings, but such is life for the 10 year old ship game. So if levis did EMP, the damage would have to be the normal bomb damage... could just be a small radius. It could bounce, also, yeah. Maybe a triple bounce would be interesting? But I kind of like the levi being unique in the way that it can fire without bounce as well.

The turrets might work against normal-style levis, yeah. I just worry those levis would be easily power-levelled, even without the ability to green very quickly. Though, since they would gain only 1 point per kill if they control no flags, just levi-terring may be considered highly unprofitable (consider that higher-level upgrades will be in the thousands). Maybe it would make sense to have the normal levi in after all? Nothing like bursting half a room with a well-placed levi bomb.

As for turrets, I'd be interested in checking out the zone you're talking about, definitely. Perhaps there could be one turret at the entrance, plus two on the sides somewhere preventing roofing. Though, if the side turrets were to prevent roofing, they'd have to fire on everyone and not just an underdog. And using a levi might actually be considered a legitimate form of retaking the base if LTing yeilded few points without flags -- pop open the flag room with a bomb, then rush in and hold it. Considering most levis will have bombs of much smaller radius than the standard pub, this could work...

Thought of one more idea. Since all the info is DB-accessible, we could have another, much smaller bot set up to work with specific maps other than the normal one here. They'd have the same settings, but would not allow any kind of point increases. Basically you'd be able to take your built-up, customized ship, and play an event with it, that kind of thing. It certainly wouldn't be even, but it could be fun. Other bots could run the particulars of the event, so long as it didn't involve shipsetting to another ship type.
