gl scoop and all that jazz.
For the staff record thing, i'm impressed by anyone who continually meets quota. The quota is just to high imo, 50 events ='s roughly 25 hours a month of hosting. That retarded. (even if you go and say now that the average event isn't half an hour, and i'd like to see you argue that, because it's at least 20 minutes on average, and if you're doing weekend events or big events like tournies or anything else they're not measured in minutes but hours, but my point is it's still like 20+ hours per month spent just hosting. The only TWO TIME TWLJ All-Star and TWLB All-Star who never played a game.

Well scoop, its kinda weird that you posted here without posting something in our forums first or leaving me a message, but I'm glad I eventually found this thread.
Staff Hierarchy is not so simple as going from <ZH> to <ER> to mod in a linear progression. You are given a choice at the beginning on whether or not you wanted to continue taking calls and helping players out with their questions, or begin going down the hosting route where you can enjoy hosting for players in the game that you enjoy playing (I hope that's what we're all here for). The <ZH> position, you get to learn both <ER> and mod duties, but the choice was still yours. If you went down the <ER> path, other staffers get to learn more about you, get to know you a little bit better, and candidates to be promoted to mods eventually surface. Those people who said that they were sick of hosting and wanted to go back to <ZH> eventually quit staff afterwards for not being active and losing interest in general, unless they gave me sufficient reason to let them go back to <ZH>.
Scoop, you in particular, did not really press a convincing case to me about wanting to go back to the <ZH> position, I've maybe heard you say that you were tired of hosting twice, but ever since our new quota system you wanted to press forward, so I did not act upon it.
This problem actually comes about once again as Moderators believe it is in a natural progression in time to be promoted to the SMod position, but the fact of the matter is that these positions are limited. Certain Smods do take in some staff members under their wing and they would get to work with the SMod, where the SMod will get to learn more about this player, leading forth to further promotions and the possibility of rotating this new candidate into the SMod position.
This zone was not a democracy to begin with. Whoever owned the zone brought forth staff members that they see fit to take on these SMod positions. These SMods would not be removed until the zone owner would believe it is time to do so or inactivity of the SMod permits it so.
However, I'd like to say that the fluidity of movement of <ER>s to mods are increasing a lot more than ever before, as Mod positions are no longer safe, even for long-going moderators. If they did no work, they would be removed.♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫

I only wanted to state that's the quota is different then 50 events (and to be exact, it's measured in advertisements, not events) and you should keep in mind it's on a per-month basis. That means you have to divide it by 31 to get the quota per day or by 4 to get the quota per week and you'll see it's quite low. You can even host one evening per week to make quota.Maverick

I remember when a lot of <ZH>'s got Mod which kind of sucked but at the same time some of them deserved it, I remember being an <ER> or <ZH> when Weaver was a <ZH>. I can't blame the guy for not wanting to be an <ER>, you have to host events, leagues and most of the time you have people breathing down your neck. If I was ever to become a <ZH> again, which is probably never going to happen I'd sit and wait it out. Hopefully after some time I'd get bumped up to mod, and any rational person with some sort of social life would follow down the same path, especially after seeing staff lose a shit load of <ER>'s, what's the benefit in becoming an <ER> over a <ZH>?
As gay as it sounds Pusher made staff feel more like a group or a team rather than a desk job, once you start putting quota's on people and putting everyone at risk for getting kicked off staff then you can't possibly hope to keep a lot of capable, willing and generally good people that want to be on staff, you burn them out before they even have a chance.Last edited by Cops; 08-17-2007, 05:42 AM.it makes me sick when i think of it, all my heroes could not live with it so i hope you rest in peace cause with us you never did

In my personal opionion I would rather see more <er> and each individual <er> hosting less events, but events of higher quality. I think the increase in diversity and quality of events would be worth it. The preparation time to host an event well can be as long as the event itself. When I hosted oldtrench3 yesterday it took me about 10 minutes to find and setup the warp coords (safe and ear). the actual event only lasted about 25 minutes (5-10 mins to pick teams 15mins flag time). I could have just told everyone to go to safes. But basing events are better and fairer with earwarp....Plus now its setup anyone else can use the same coords in a future event.Last edited by Doc Flabby; 08-17-2007, 07:55 AM.Rediscover online gaming.
