Not So Tough

There was another thread somewhere that was talking about doing a farm team. I talked with the tough caps and were gonna do the same. I think if every squad did this it could help boost newer players, and let them feel some competition. Lets be honest most people here all had that first noob squad and taught them a few things. Toughs farm squad is gonna be called Not So Tough, everyone should try doing something like this. I know penetrates usually good about recruiting newer players and teaching them to base. If everyone did it, I think not only will more people stay, but when your online you will have more options of people to play then the same old 4 squads. We had to play savanger yesterday 5 times cause noone else was on.

I asked to do something like this, all i asked was to be able to captain another squad yes double squad just to set up games and teach some newbs a few tricks but never actually play.

I see no problem with this however staff have rejected me :<.

a farm team doesnt work in my opinion.. i remember running Violet with a2m for a 2-3 months as Shriek's farm squad. It never really worked out, cause people will start arguing and stuff, and when you promote some and not the others they hate u forever.

Just forget about making a farm squad, instead promote the "newer" players to make a squad of their own, that is how QS started off after all.

Why do a farm squad? Isn't it easier to just recruit the newbies into your real squad and increase the amount of active members and then let them play games with your real squad? Wouldnt this also make the newbies feel a lot better than being on a "farm squad" and make them try harder?

agreed, why join ppl to a farm squad, the best practice u can get is with current squad members, seeing how thats who u will be playing with all the time, if they go prac with other newbies then they will never get any better, they need to prac against competition its the only way to get better, and teaming is the biggest part so they need to know how to play along with current members styles

Well the reason were gonna do a farm squad is because then we dont have to axe anyone. Not So Tough is gonna allow anyone to join, Kind of working it like baseball, anyone who does great there can go to tough and play during twl season.

Were gonna start this squad after twl, and when the next twl season comes our goal is to have 2 total squads, 1 squad geered towards helping newer people, and the other for competition.

Tough is already active with the 30 members we currently have. The newbies i dont think they will care at first about anything other then being on a squad were they can twd whenever/whoever they want. If they want to try harder they can possibly end up on tough. Not So Tough will probably have like 80 members. All Applications Accepted

if you're worried about having too many members by accepting every fucking app u recieve then how about just not accepting everyone and their brother? or do you wanna be huge like GT? wouldnt rejecting apps be easier than creating a whole 2nd squad? cuz i gaurantee your "Farm" squad will eventually ruin the entire squad

Money i doubt it will ruin anything, in fact at least tough is doing something to help the community. Whens the last time you tried? Im sure good intentions are all fine and what not, but good intentions isnt whats going to keep this zone populated, unless people go out and do something about it. I mean come on at least were trying.

I don't know who leads your squad but I give him/her props cause you guys are a respectable squad. I think we've played you guys 30 or 40 times and you guys are always willing to dd us just to improve yourselves. TW could use a few more squads like this that have a backbone, instead of those squads that are afraid to dd you or fall apart after losing. So props there, and also props with the farm squad, I think more people would be involved with something like this if it weren't for the fact that it takes up so much time. Foreign brings up many good points, don't take the better players from your farm squad unless you're willing to take everyone from the farm squad.

help the community? u mean help your squad? thats fine and all but say you're helping the entire subspace community or even tw comm, we have recruit chats, they join it for a while and if they're ok they can join the REAL squad, not the pee-on squad

and do you really think that tough having a farm squad is gonna keep tw populated? are you serious or did u have nothing better to type? vyou cant possibly count this as trying to "save the zone" LOL more like Save-a-Newb foundation. But if it works out for your squad thats great, i just cant see how YOU see it saving the zones population thats all, anyways

Saving the entire zone prolly not, but helping keep people from leaving because they finally see the competition part of the game sure. But who knows if more squads do the same we may see the fruits of our labor

I disagree. Not taking everyone will make the one's who didn't make the main squad try harder and play more to become better, and hopefully one day be able to make the main squad. You want to just take everyone and then they have one bad game, and quit like metalkid. Don't need any more of them. Make them want to be the best and create competition, don't be soft and take everyone

Whats the point of farm squads anyway?


I mean if we are really trying to train new players... why not make a system like Premier league?

make an amateur league, an intermediate, and a pro league

or maybe you can drop the intermediate i duno, but make an amateur league for just the newbs to compete in, and get better... and the winner of that league or top w/e get to move on the intermediate, or move to pro league w/e...


Also, if your gonna make a farm squad, why would you make it such a stupid name? If i was a newbie would I wanna be humiliated and join a squad called "not so tough"??? Thats pretty degrading if you ask me. Personally I think the entire roster of Tough should move to Not So Tough so they can learn how to play warbird themselves

i think that a farm squad isnt an awful idea. it will just take some extra effort in the caps and such.

in my opinion, to do this effectively, youd need to be able to double squad. thats probably out of hte question (unless you have some other people willing to sac their normal cap spot on the mian one and drop to the farm one). but that aside, can still work, especially in the 'off season'.

i would accept anyone that wanted to play on the farm squad. doesnt really matter, all you have to do is: 1) be active 2) be willing to work 3) listen to advice. it doesnt matter if youve played for 1 month or 6 years.

now, the ballsy thing to do is to reduce your main squad to only the active and consistantly good members. get it down to that 15-20 people that really are very active and pretty good and easy to work with. demote the rest to your farm squad. now, just run both squads. if a farm squad person shows great improvement and around all the time while consistantly putting up good numbers, put them up on your main squad. if somoene from the main squad goes inactive/starts to not try and blow goats, demote them to the other squad. keep the two constantly changing when needed. if you get your top squad to where you always have a good core on at peak hours, and you play against good competition, you will get better.

well we do have a cap thats gonna float in between both squads, squad 2 weeks with not so tough 2 weeks with tough. Its gonna be an overall fun squad, we play everyone, just lost to style this morning, some squads dont have the luxory to play against anyone at any time with any line, we do cause its for fun.

Anyway, I don't think farm squads will repopulate TW, but it will at least maintain the population TW actually has by maintaining interest, you also may possibly get more people saying to their friends "Oh I joined this squad last night, all friendly people and lots of matches", introduce the game to a few people and it's a slow step forwards from there...Anything can happen, we're not trying to save our community, think of it more like "doing our bit", a lot more obviously needs to be done other than farm squads.
It's true that farm squads take a bit of effort, and obviously people are being realistic but being a little more optimistic would help.

Squadname has some place in whether new players want to join or not. Not So Tough doesn't exactly sound like it's "good".

Instead of replying with an insult to what squad I'm on, just really think about it.
