I'm a little uncomfortable with changing the map too much. What we have now, especially without the blocks, has really good balance. Being in the flagroom is an advantage but it doesn't make the guys outside give up. Base switches hands over and over during the course of a base game, even if the teams are a little uneven. Flagroom battles are exciting.
Whenever the map is changed whoever is making the new one gets too carried away putting little walls and hiding spots all over the flagroom and it gets too cluttered. The one we have right now is really simple, with a few places for the terr to hide during a flagroom battle. The nice part of those hiding places is they are very risky and going into them signals to the opposing team that they have a chance to get a TeK and win the flagroom battle. Isn't that what you think when you see the terr down go into those little spaces furthest down in the flagroom (either side of the flagroom entrance) or up into the "ears". That's part of the dynamic that we might not get in a new map if things are too different. We sorta lucked into what I think is a really good map design.
That being said, and I don't think staff endorses this at this point but they might just not have thought of it, lets start considering some other options. I don't play "events" very often so tell me some of the better basing arenas in TW and I'll check those maps out. Also, has anyone made a map and want to share it with everyone?
Someone should give making a quick map a try. We just need something with a flagroom and a "lower" base, other than that you don't need to get carried away... This could be sorta cool. It is an "old" map, but it's also a "good" one I guess is my point. Lets only change it if we find something else that is really good.
