Elimination / Competition Proposition

frankly, it would be cool if elim and baseelim were in the same arena... i'm pretty sure that is impossible. but if elim could happen on half the arena and baseelim on the other half.. perhaps people would play javs while waiting for the elim game to end or something. people don't like to leave the arena, trust me, they are that lazy

combining the maps would be the biggest step forward / coolest idea/event that trench wars has put forward in...i don't know...ever? Could get pretty spamful, but it'd be worth it. Otherwise all this is is the argument of people who say no saying "hey, elim is doing fine, just because belim is dead doesn't mean we need to be punished" vs the yesers saying "it'll increase competition."

actually, that would be neat. combine the arena, and let the wb's play on half the map and the javs on the other half. then maybe once or twice an hour or play a combined event. alternate between wb and jav. i dont know, that sounds nightmarish on tryign to find a good timing pattern.

i personally believe it would be a little bit better for the zone to try to get people to at least get respectable in their off-ship.

and also, for the record, the POS bot in arena ?go javs had a large part in killing belim.

reasoning behind elim being more popular than belim: wb's are easier to get decent at. not great at, but decent. if you leave pub after the first month of playing and go play an elim, you will probably do *alright* compared to a game in baseelim. with spawning and straying and somewhat lucky shots, you can work your way to a 5-10 rec pretty consistantly. you can always tell who the newbs are because they just dont move right. they dont hit more than one arrow at a time all that well. in wb, that is a bit less of a detriment. in javs, its really bad. javs are so much slower in pace for teh most part, that maneuverability plays a huge factor. that same person would probably go to baseelim and pull a 2-10 rec.

this isnt really a 'which is harder, javs or wb's' argument so dont turn it into that please.

I go into elim to play with warbird.

Javs:

?go tourny (usually gets a javelin vote)
?go javs
?go javduel
?go base
?go baseelim

More than enough areas for javelins to play.

Warbirds:

?go elim
?go wbduel

Why would you want to let javelins poison the ?go elim arena as well? They have more than enough arenas to go and have fun.

I'd personally hate to goto elim just to see "Javelin elim to 10 starting in 10 seconds!!"

that would ruin my elim experience, and honestly I'd be LESS likely to goto elim.

And the fact that "it will bring back vets" is just a wild guess. I doubt it will bring vets back and I doubt it will have a good effect on the CURRENT (current being more important wb's than the "vets" that don't even play any more). The current warbirds will be sick of yet another arena letting javs get in the way.

There are more than enough jav arenas compared to warbird arenas.

Lets not forget elim has so many players because often the newbies spawning with wbs in pub type ?go elim, it is by far the easiest ship to learn, and is also by far the ship of choice for a new player. I dont agree with merging them, since ?go javs is active and is basically the same thing without being eliminated at 10 deaths. Also how is ?go base a jav arena? And if tourny is a jav arena, you must not goto it that often, there is more jav games but why wouldnt there be? The ship takes 100% more skill to be good in.

Maybe read my post, it randomizes so javs aint picked all the times.. It will pick wb, jav, wb, jav, RANDOM, wb, jav , wb, jav, random... do u get it now

the ship takes 100% more skill for players who are 100% worse than the usual player, yes that is understandable. (it's played more because it takes more skill? what kind of idiotic ideology does that follow? just out of curiosity)

Regardless, even though it will be "randomized" javelins will still get in the way of warbirds who ?go elim to get a warbird game in. there are enough random selections as it is.

How is ?go base a jav arena:

More than likely a javelin will be picked over a warbird in a basing game. Javelins can fit in a basing environment easier than a warbird. It's natural to pick a javelin in a game of base rather than a warbird.

And as I stated above, there are more than enough javelin arenas. Don't poison elim as well with Javelins. If javelins is demanded by the player base, they would be playing in javelin arenas.

Perhaps P_L should make this into a vote, new map and all it's not that hard to make so if people want this, then twdev would be more than happy to make it. If twdev isn't happy to make it, jab will... But in that case, I would make it just for the sake of the players.
This combination would bring a bit more activity to the elims in the low hours, but on the other hand it kinda messes up the other end of the scale.

And if it doesn't work at all, bring them back. Change is always good, but everything can be brought back here.
