Should we raise the max resolution?

I just entered TW on the maximum resolution (and spectated), from a basing perspective it defeats the whole point of the radar as not only could i compitently view the entire FR and surrounding cramming positions, but i could also see down the whole tube, thus telling if the terr goes sides. Stupid to raise it.

We'll have a smaller screen surface so we can use that to whine about gear difference when we lose aswell!

I agree with Money here, If we can't raise the resolution then a least change the aspect so it fits correctly for people who have newer wide screens lcd's.

1600 * 1200 = 1920000 pixels. (31% more than current res)
1680 * 1050 = 1764000 pixels. (25% more than current res)
1280 * 1024 = 1310000 pixels. (current ress)
1440 * 900 = 1296000 pixels. (0.01% less than current res)
That's the difference.

okay this is kinda tricky, but from my point of view (maybe some others as well) this is no can do, my computer is old and crappy as fuck and i have no intention to change that cause i don't need or want a "great computer" so i'd prolly just quit while others play spacehips with 3000 x 2000 reso with their 10k miracle machines

Most people don't have new monitors.
Again, I copy and paste my argument against raising it here:
Many people can't play higher than the max of 1280x1024.
Look at the Valve hardware survey which is from between May 2007 and August 2007, so fairly up to date.
85% of people have a 4:3 aspect ratio (i.e. not widescreen)
Around 75% of the people who have a 4:3 aspect ratio size have a monitor of 18" or less. I.e. 25% of these people would gain an advantage from increasing TW's maximum resolution.
Sure, this is a survey of Steam users, not of Continuum players, but I think it gives a fair idea considering the huge numbers of players who took part (More than 1 million).
Anyway, my opinion is that we should keep the maximum resolution how it is.
I'd be happy with a compromise of allowing 1440 x 900, so that people on widescreen monitors don't have the disadvantage of skewed angles.

For all the wizzkids out there who voted 'no' with the arguments that everyone should 'have equal changes' and 'gear over skill': if you increase the maximum resolution it means that this game will still have a maximum resolution, only higher than it is now. So eventually everyone will play at the same resolution. The pro is that people with newer (widescreen) monitors are playing a less ugly game.

1280 x 1024 is the standard max res setting for all arenas as it has been the standard for tw if this gets raised there would be alot of work editing all of the config files of all these arenas. As far as the skill factor the res settings in league and tournament arenas could remain the same unless its decided to have them changed later. I voted yes as it will help the average player spot those lovely bombs at a distance and give them time to react and maybe help some ppl learn to snipe which not many do much of anymore. If you just change the server file to raise the max res it will not affect the rest of the arensa in the zone so this can be pub tested very easily and you would not have to shut down or recycle to do so either.

i arguably (apart from a few brazilians and bosnians maybe) have the worst computer ever.. however i got a 21 inch monitor that can go up to 2048 res!
however it would probably be unfair if next to being twice as good as you, i'd also see twice as much as you. -_-

I voted yes, because the way I see it, it's up to the majority.
If the majority wants it as it is, I'll be fine with that, in the same way I expect the no side to do the same.
It would be stupid to limit the majority to a lower cap because some can't be assed to have a computer made in this century.
Scoop, if you want to pull the faulty argument that it's skill over gear, the why don't we all go DOWN a notch to make it harder, and to allow more computers to run the game. You're putting it like it's much to ask for.
