What's a good gamepad for this game?

I've been looking for a perfect one for a while. The Xbox360 controller would be great if the dpad wasn't crap. I have also used my phat DS to play but ever since I migrated to a laptop the keys tend to lag and stick randomly. Yesterday I bought a third party controller because the dpad on it looked better. It is better but still not what I'm looking for. The gamepad of my dreams would have to have a perfect dpad becase movement is the most important, no lag whatsoever, and at least 8 buttons so I can map a lot of functions into it.

Well, basically you could get a Playstation USB Adapter, plugs into your PC USB and allows you to fit Playstation controllers in there, I don't know if it works or anything it's been so long since I tried it, I think it might.

This is what I bought, the wire is well, long enough, you can plug 2 pads in incase you have someone else that wants to play something else at the same time (If you're not JUST buying it for SS, comes in handy)

That's pretty much because I like Playstation pads a lot, I wanted to transfer it to PC, and I like it personally. Depends how you feel about PS pads.

A few other friends also recommended a PS2 to PC converter. But I don't wanna order online because then it'll take at least a week to get here and I'm gonna have to keep playing with my "broken" gamepads for a week.

Just got another 360 gamepad by Madcatz. This one is so good. It's confortable and the dpad feels great. Only problem was that when I clicked on two directions simultaneously my ship wouldn't move. But I solved that by using Xpadder to map them.
