Weekend Pure Pub

Ok as a baser I am actually a fan of Pure Pub was even there once or twice when the bots were tested and thought it was an awesome idea. And as you all know I have been trying to liven up the pubs on the weekends with some settings and ship changes. So far the response to the weekends has been about 80% positive with the only complaint that I tend to kill basing in pure pub.
Well I may have a solution. I have loaded an arena at ?go purepub, this is the exact map and settings as Trench Wars uses all the time. If "YOU" the trench wars players approve I can set up the purepub in this arena on the weekends and the weekend changes will not affect your game play at all. And if this arena can't hold a decent population for 2 days we may have to find another route.

There is a big difference in having a novelty pub over the weekends say once a month rather than EVERY weekend

The novelty will soon ware off and there are some people who can only play weekends etc will get sick off only ever seeing a random setting.

I’m all for having novelty arenas and settings once in a while but I’m talking about once every month or even every other month. At the moment they are much too frequent and I would rather not have the weekends ruled out of pub playing because it will be some random unrecognisable event.

The holiday maps where fun (if some badly designed :P ) because they where a rarity.

Again I fail to see why one person “livening up” pub is allowed to happen and I think that idea has been taken in the wrong direction.

Instead make it a monthly event, sit down plan out with the TWDev a timeline of settings to change for fun, as you enter pub have a zoner telling you about the next event with a link to tw.org where it should be in the news section. This would let players know what is going on, they might look forward to the setting changes over the weekend. The players who play rarely might log in on that day and check it out. Right now it’s just a random mess every weekend.

Personally, without it automatically directing people to the arena (unlike the pub arenas) I don't think people are going to go to it. Many people probably log in and just start playing, and if that's the case, they're not gonna log in and type ?go purepub.

because without pub tw will be boring? Try elim, twd, javs, wbduel, base, javduel, hosted events, ect. Pub isnt the only thing available to you.

Pub for the most part have enjoyed the wild weekends, not to mention people who i havent seen in pub for years have been in them. Keep in mind were not just trying to keep new people, but the old ones as well. Switching things up for a while are great for tw

if you can keep people in elim during wbduels and people in javs during jav events, them people will stay in purepub.

I don't know how you go about ordering the arenas with esc+a (alphabetically? chronologically?) but if you put it at the top of the list, or at least right below the regular pubs, it will get plenty of people. Even before I knew of arenas and things like TWD, I could figure out how to change pubs. Esc+A isn't a secret from most new players, they'll learn it within a day or two (or maybe not, ?go works pretty well). It's a matter of them figuring out which arenas are there (hell i admit i didn't know you could scroll it when i first started) and what they are for.

the problem i see with that is that purepub needs 2x as many ppl as those other arenas to be fun, but if that's what people actually want to do, what's stopping them from typing ?go purepub? It's pretty much assumed that the purepub pubbers know enough about TW to know how to change arenas. And if they get killed in a levi, they'll change. For me, it's more annoying to hit esc+4, get specced, and then change arenas, than it is to look in the corner and see if there's a timer. SIDE NOTE: BRING BACK TIMER IN PUB 0

Hell, i'll personally sit in the second pub for a day or two at first, constantly spaming "Hey go to your profile (you know, before you enter the zone) and find the auto command box (lower right corner). Type "\?go purepub" without the quotes. Bam! You'll always start in purepub now !"

The original idea was to liven up pubs for the weekends and like I said 80% liked it. But perhaps I could reverse this idea and have a "BASE MADNESS" arena that I will set up on friday night for the weekend, but if it kills the pubs then what? Seems to me its worth a try and if it is a resounding success then maybe its time to revamp the pubs and make them more fun for everyone instead of just a few. So this is what I will do for this coming weekend. I will put up a base that I was working on a while back and ditched and maybe tweak a few ship settings. Then next week maybe someone elses base and maybe a new set of ship settings. Hell why not a ship 9 and ship 10 just to make it interesting.

I've really enjoyed the pub weekends so far and I love pure pub basing. I don't think I've liked anything new with pubs since guanobot actually, so thanks for the weekend fun stuff.

It's a nice change in an area of this zone where things were stagnant for too long. If my fellow pure pub basers are going to whine about 2 out of 7 days then I say try ?go purepub but when it fails do NOT stop the weekend fun.

(Used to be reversed with pure basing weekends, ironic.)
