It's easy and painless to try this out!

All you have to do is click on "Zones" or "Find Zones" in your Continuum menu and make sure that auto.subdir.net auto.subdir.org are the first ones in the Directory Server Address List field, and then click on Download.

If you want to get technical about it, you can compare the results you get with auto.subdir.net/org versus sscentral.sscuservers.net; highlight all the zones in the list (after hitting download) and it will show you the total number of zones and population, as you see in the screenshot above.

If you want to compare speed, temporarily switch to a dialup or satellite internet connection and download the list from auto.subdir.net/org versus sscentral.sscuservers.net. You will find that auto.subdir.net/org is faster and more responsive.


Snrrrub's directory server (soon to be released as open source and binaries) uses special clustering features that check every other currently existing directory server's listing to make sure that it has every zone they have, and thus serving maximized zone publicity and results!

No, not really. It only benefits if you ever update your zone list and play in other zones, want to play in other zones, or is trying to find a different kind of zone.

So if you play strictly in Trench Wars and no other zone, it would not hurt to apply these directory servers to your client's field, but would not benefit you either (or in other words, pretty much the whole zone downloading feature would not be a beneficial or needed feature for you in Continuum ).
